and i see what you mean now. sorry if it sounded like i was calling you out or something. i was kinda curious. the concept of knife fighting is something ive always wanted to learn cause its a plausible threat in todays society but i often look at dojos that teach it with a lot of suspicion. not that i dont believe theres real techniques out there, just they usually try to throw in that they teach Jeet Kune Do in addition to a myriad of weapons etc etc...

No problem at all. There are a lot of knife schools out there not based on reality, or worse, not taught by qualified people. The reason you see a lot of places teaching knife and JKD together is because of the Inosanto factor. After Bruce Lee's passing, Dan Inosanto (a filipino martial art master) started to incoporate all his FMA into JKD. Therefore you'll notice most of the JKD places around now are more or less FMA mixed with kickboxing and maybe some BJJ.
That said, there are a lot of good knife places around, but not many focus on ease-of-learning. I can't do 15 cuts in two seconds like some can, but I don't train to need 15 cuts either.
