I heard from someone that its the nage katas who are the most important for ashihara but perhaps it is like you say that jissen is Kanchos favorite kata. Perhaps we can ask him next time we meet him in person.
I will go to Honbu in november I'll try to remember to ask Kancho about this if I get the chance.
