Sikaron Karate was born from the traditional roots of Sikaran Karate, a Philippine foot fighting martial art which used the legs exclusively for kicking, leg & foot sweeps, and leg entanglements. The hands were only used to pull the opponent into the paralyzing and killing kicks of Sikaran Karate.

Cikaron Karate was founded in 1965 by Segi Tanaguchi and Art Skorka and brought to the United States in 1967 under the IOK International Organization of Karate. Cikaron karate an off-shoot of the traditional Sikaran Karate system, and incorporated Judo, Jujitsu and Karate techniques utilizing hand, punching and throwing techniques thus giving it a broader range of techniques and appeal to the Western world. Because the system changed, so did the name from Sikaran Karate to Cikaron Karate.

In 1985, Prof. Holifield created the Sikaron Karate system, an integrated fighting system incorporating Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Hapkido, Combat Karate, Shotokan Karate, Ninjitsu, Hwrangdo, Knife-Fighting, Boxing, Grappling and Tameshiwari (Breaking). The Sikaron Karate system is a reality-based street fighting system geared for practical self defense applications. The Sikaron Karate system incorporates ten Kata forms, one for each of the following belt ranks
