I liked the list there are some good pointers, Dents tweaks also work for me.... I have a list too....

Intro to the TMD SP manual:

Rule 1) BE AWARE!

Rule 2) Don't close yourself off to the World with IPODS or whatever.

Rule 3) Listen to your instincts they have been around longer than you!

Rule 4) Don't make eye contact with a potential threat.

Rule 5) Don't engage unless 100% unavoidable.

Rule 6) If all the above have been ignored and you have engaged use a low
controlled tone and never swear, be flippant or derogatory.

Rule 7) Try and establish a natural barrier if none is around keep your hands high and your elbows in.

Rule 8) Establish the 'best' escape route - this may not be 100% trouble free it could even be through the weakest of the group.

Rule 9) Do not be afraid of embarrassment - SHOUT FOR HELP (SHOUTING FIRE WORKS BEST APPARENTLY)

Rule 10) If all the above has been ignored or failed; fight for your life with 100% commitment, this is no dojo or even tournament the looser here could be you and could be dead - don't wait to see a weapon, assume they have one and attack in all the spots you're normally told not to - end it in seconds with decisive ugly powerful strikes.

I agree and disagree with you in equal measure, useful huh!

I have spoken to many a huge, mean mother and yes the look that says 'you start it, I'll finish it!' does work but only on those smart or sober enough to notice.

Not looking like a victim is key and did send me to the gym 4 times a week for 10+ years, I really bulked up but 20" arms won't save you when it does go wrong. As I've dropped my weight recently I actually feel more powerful and competent at all aspects of my art than I did when I weighted 3-4 stone more - mostly because I am a lot more agile and power comes from speed as well as strength and I'm much quicker - speed also gives you surprise - I have seen big guys through hay makers so slowly if they were on Sky they'd have add breaks .

Lastly when I did a bit of door work a million years ago and someone wanted to fight a doorman they didn't head for me they headed for my step dad, coz he's 6'6" and about 25-30 stone - he would have been a prize to the drunkard looking to prove he's hard - The smaller doorman were never the prize but were often the punishment as my step dad hated fighting
