Osu!
I was wondering if I sew a few holes under the armpit area, will it improve the ventilation of the dogi.
Or maybe have a small area fitted with netting like materials.:D
Kindly share your thought.

Osu!
I think that the sleeves are under a lot of stress when grappling and in applications of sabaki.
I guess holes would improve the ventilation however i do not think that the dogi would be still as resistant to stress as a normal dogi holes-less.
Honestly with your current dogi i feel really great, i don't think it does really need ventilation improvements.
Net-like materials are out of discussion, it would require a sewing and therefore it would make the dogi less resistant.
I also do not believe it would be nice to see trough that net :|

Rather than holes or netting, I'd go with shorter and larger diameter sleeves. Maybe gussets below the yoke in the back?

I agree.
I guess thats the best idea

My first Isami Dogis had small holes and i didn't really notice any difference between them and the later holeless designs,i prefer shorter sleeves anyway so im inclined to think meguro is probably right about sleeve length and diameter having a greater affect on just how sweaty your pits do or don't get .

I just literally paid Kelvin via paypal for a dogi :D
Kelvin, if you read this, it's me Brian :), I would be glad to purchase a dogi like Meguro is describing when you have them available, too. Always have to have at least two back up dogi.
If these are half as good as what Dent and Senshido are describing the price with shipping is one heck of a deal, everyone.

Kelvin from what I'm hearing it sounds like you've got Isami beat on quality, price, and customer service - now its just a matter of spreading the word!

I dont think the ventilation is necessary kelvin, as suggested already it might weaken the dogi in that area.

If you can manufacture these kind of holes, i would buy some sets. [edited by Fred to prevent unintended exposure to explicit images - link removed
I'll be looking forward ;)
P.S. If the content of the link is considered bad, i'll remove it.
I don't think it is.
WTF!
It is not only bad, it is bad taste
EDIT:
Hidden - Somebody considers female anatomy "bad content" instead of beauty
Not "somebody", I! The name is Fred, I'll stick with it if you don't mind.
Precisely, I said: "not only bad, but bad taste" and later added "out of place".
But you know it & that is why you suggested to remove it, then removed it.
On internet forums this is called a bait, to start flaming or to call attention on yourself.
Which you did.
You live in Milano, Italy and you call anatomical pictures "beautiful"...
May I suggest you got your sorry bitter butt to a museum and discovered beautiful nudity? That would beat risking a spraining your wrist contemplating exposed vaginas on wikipedia.

Actually i think it would build a huge business...
Drugs, Sex, Weapons, Financial Derivatives, paper gold, human trafficking, counterfeiting, etc... are all huge businesses.
I am not impressed by their size nor by their contribution to the enlightenment of humanity.
Bad taste and out of place it is. :(

Who has ever spoke of those things?
The link provided informations about female anatomy by a well known encyclopedia.

Dude - uncool. Let me refer you to forum rule #6:
Do NOT post pornographic materials, NO racism, NO religion, NO politics, NO graphical materials.
Our discussions may get a tad racy from time to time, but this was clearly a breach of forum rules. I'm pissed now - I'd have really been pissed had I opened this link with my 6 year old daughter or my wife looking over my shoulder. This is a family forum - keep it that way.

Glad no harm was done. :)

Hey guys,
Let’s focus on how to improve the dogi!!
It take a good Kyokushin Karate practicsioner to understand what we and how we can improve the dogi to it maximum.
Kick that we use are even more complicated that T.K.D.
We are unlike other sport karate that only uses basic kicks and punches.
During the last 10-15years, Kyokushin fighters around the world had develop many fanciful kicks for only 1 reason. ( Knock-Out ).
This is the reason I developed the cotton lycra material for the pant.

Link has been removed...poster has been warned.
Back on topic-
While the ventilation through mesh or other types of fabric sounds doable, I will simple restate what others have said, that the underarms seem to be a wink link in normal fabric...would think that it would get weaker...

I first tell everybody i am sorry.
but in second place i'd like to know how a voice into encyclopedia has to be considered pornographic...
i believe you are mistaking what pornographic is, however nevermind.
i am sorry a silly joke made all that fuss out.
I was considerably upset myself.

I knew somebody would think so, thats why i wrote that i would remove it if necessary.
I do not want to fight, and i am sorry if you were offended by that.
I think pornography is not everything in the world that refers to a vagina, i may be wrong but thats how in italy is.
i just do not believe doctors and artists work with pornography everyday.
I've had been looking then on an english dictionary online to find a definition for pornography before posting that link, and i've found this:
"1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction <the pornography of violence>" by http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary
And again, as i saw somebody said it was out of place, i've removed the link. i don't think there is much to be upset for.

Kelvin,
Kyokushin karate gi already are much ventilated there compared to traditional ones. thanks to the shorter sleeves.
Is there really a need to increase ventilations?

My Meijin dogi top has holes or gussets in the armpit area and I'm honestly not sure if this adds any ventilation? I guess scientifically speaking, it should add some?
I think it would be weird to have a type of mesh or "webbin" in the armpit area on a dogi, it just would look to out of place or that's what I'm imagining, anyway.
When I try out Kelvin's dogi here in a couple of weeks I'll give my review on it and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a positive review going by others that have already used his dogi :)

Kelvin, I don't really have anything to add about the ventiliation question, but I would just like to say how cool I think it is that you are working to make your product (which is apparently already pretty damn good) better. Osu!

I'm just like everybody else, wants to own a pair of good quality dogi.
Unfortunately buying a pair of ISAMI or ICHIGAKI dogi is a hackle and expensive.
Then, one day I thought why not I try and make a pair myself with the material I like.
I work with a few textile merchant here and found the materials that I think will work.
I contract a sewing factor to than tailor to my spec.
After a few test with difference material, I finally combine this 2 to make what me and some members here wearing.
Hopefully, every karate-ka can afford to buy 2 sets. 1 for daily use and 1 for raining day. Hahaha.

Great story of "rags to dogi" Kelvin, thanks for sharing! :)
1 for daily use and 1 for raining day
In The British Isles, it rains everyday, so no need to worry! :D

I also have a Meijin Dogi, and the earlier Tenki, both of which had the holes. Correctly oversewn, they can by strong (My Dogi frayed elsewhere first), but I do wonder whether they are absolutely necessary? I like the idea of additional ventilation, so I wonder wether a combination of those with Meguro's idea may not be the best option.

Keyvan, the litmus test is a simple one. Would this be something you'd show/ discuss in an actual Dojo, full of men, women and children from different countries and cultures? If you have any doubts, it's usually safest to hit that delete button.

Doesn't Higaonna sensei (I want to call him higher but I most often referred to as 'sensei') endorse Meijin or I should say is payed by Meijin and gives him free dogi? The IOGKF and dento juku come full circle..

p.s. no disrespect meant at all

I know they used to have a working relationship, but I don't know about now. I got a good deal on the Dogi from David Chambers at one point, but found him hard to deal with since. A very changeable character...
His version of the Dogi is very soft to start with, but requires gentler handling than I am accustomed to using with a Dogi. They stain fairly easily, and when they start to go, they go fast.
I wouldn't recommend them.
