Depends on which organisation.
http://www.australiankyokushin.com/beltcolours.shtml

IKO(3) Australia uses the same as IFK Austalia on that page.

Osu.

hello everyone, i am a 6th kyu kyokushin student, studied for about 6 months, after that i had to change countries, studied shotokan for about 8 months, got up to 3rd kyu, also a little kick-boxing, changed countries again, returned to kyokushin (thank heavens) and now i only train at home cuz my dojo shut down.. i moved again but this time i wont ever do shotokan... while it did increase my stamina greatly, it messed up my technique (esp. MaeGeri), i completely forgot other techniques (sankoku geri -triangle kick- ) and my katas are screwed up totally..

the jordan shotokan org. teach u pinan sono ichi thru pinan sono go but with different names and the movements suck..
that being said, my shotokan sensei was a 5th dan tested in japan's shotokan org... so its not cuz the instructor sucks, its cuz shotokan in general, sucks.

(i apologise to anyone i offended)

my old kyokushin sempai almost tore me a new one cuz of the things shotokan did to my training..

sorry for the long story, i just wanted to say hi, somehow things got rolling...

thanks all...

Osu.

oh, supposedly iraq follows the IKO1 rules, i guess..

our belt system there was:

white-orange-blue-yellow-green-brown-black.

you can get the belt-coloring system from the 'net if u search for it.. just include the organization name (IKO, IFK, etc..) so u will be sure u got it right..

cheers all..

3rd kyu in 8 months and 6th kyu in 6 months? WOW that's impresive! That's almost one test a month in kyokushin. You must be very talented :)

i do hope so...

oh, i hope i didnt give the impression that i did them both simultaneously! i studied kyokushin in iraq, for 6 months, which got me up from 9th kyu to 6th kyu, thats about 4 tests..

in jordan i took up shotokan, the jordanian shotokan federation emphasises on total NON-CONTACT karate training, and physical requirements are not a problem also, thats why i didnt continue..
i got up to blue belt 3rd kyu, all that remained were 2nd and first kyu (brown) and after that the shodan test..
all they asked is that u memorised kata and kihon, and tested u accordingly, no fitness test, no sparring, no nothing.
i felt not worthy to get shodan that way.. so i quit.

i resumed my kyokushin training on my own, (fitness, kata and kihon parts), sparring is done mainly with my cousin (he is a shotokan karateka) and even that is limited to shotokan rules..

note: i still train at 6th kyu level after over a year and a half! (i cant upgrade without my Sempai's (or any Sempai for that matter) approval, and i am back in jordan now where sadly there are NO kyokushin dojos here AT ALL to the best of my knowledge..)

sorry to have bothered u with this story! i actually posted somewhere about if anyone knew of any Kyokushin dojos in jordan!

thank you for your time! :)
