Osu,

I read with interest the caption of "nidaime" - I first saw this publically used by Seido when Tadashi Nakamura Kaicho appointed his son as his successor. Any input as to who else used or makes use of this as a title?

Like you, the only other time I have seen the title of nidaime used was by Nakamura Kaicho. Masaki Yamamoto is the grandson of Katsuo Yamamoto(founder of Yoshukai)

Thanks, it would be interesting therefore to get further input by other forum members. It's actually a rarity. ;)

WOW, big news! I knew Masaki was "next in line", but I didn't think it would be announced this soon.

I was wondering this the other day. How old is he, by chance ?

Masaki is 11 or 12 years old. This party is not saying that he will take over as Kaicho as of yet. It is only to announce that he will be the successor.

Edit: he may even be 13. His sister Yuriya will be 15 this year and he is a couple of years younger than her.

Quite a responsibilty. I met Kaicho's grandaughter in FL in 2007 I think ?

Is there any structure in place for someone to oversee him in the event that anything should happen to your Kaicho? As what happened in the case of Shogo Kuniba where Teruo Hayashi was overseeing until he was of a age to assume responsibility himself.

I think something similar happened in Shorinji Kenpo but in that case, his daughter was appointed the Kancho, but she still had Shihan being in charge of teaching.

The top ranking Japanese Shihans are there to mold/guide him into the role of being Kaicho of the Yoshukai organization. If something were to happen to our Kaicho, there are quite a few individuals who are in place to mentor the young man.

Thanks - in the case of Teruo Hayashi, once Kuniba became of a proficient age, Hayashi left to form his own "Ha" - Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu.

Would you know how supportive your Japanese shihan's are of this move? Why I am asking, if one looks around to many of the other styles and groups from JKA to Kyokushin to Ashihara, when the founder or top person passes away, there has been lots of splintering. If one looks at Seido Juku, a number of senior people left Seido after Tadashi Nakamura appointed his son the Nidaime (successor).

Would something like that happen to Yoshukai? Or are they of a small juku nature that would remain close knitted?

Sadly, no. There are not too many members of WYKKO that know this event is even taking place.

Edit: Ashihara Kaicho, I just sent you a pm. Osu

Thanks for the responce as well as for the pm - would it not be good if the Japanese organisation had a website that would tell all the latest news in English - something similar to what Seido Juku had with its annoucement of its Nidaime ...?

What about having a quarterly news letter? Perhaps there you can play a leading role?

This would be great. I frequent the Japanese site, but lack the ability to read it. :(
