I have seen this during the beginning of the New Zealand Rugby matches. Such a performance is beautifuly done, coordinated, explosive and loud. It is like a burst of strength.
Roar of the lion after conquering its prey.
Unique to New Zealand rugby team, team spirit, cultural heritage performance before a match.
This is what I look forward to at the beginning of every NZ match.

Curious seeing that rugby is an English sport, do the English (and other Europeans) perform anything along the lines of a Haka before their bouts? I also noticed that the Samoan Islands do something very similar... perhaps this is only evident in rugby teams from the South Pacific?

I really like that the NZ haka has inspired other South Pacific rugby teams to do their war dance too. Samoan, Tonga -I have even seen a vid on youtube of a hawaiian american football team do one (badly in their outfits, but its the thought that counts).
It brings a extra touch of energy to the game.
Now if I could just get to watch rugby on tv here in sweden. but there is zero tradition for it.
Oh, and I LOVED that animated 3d one :-)

The boys have been known to rattle the rafters at the World Tourny when one of the whanau is heading to the mat. Raises the hair on the back of your neck! Suspect whoever is at this year's event may be treated to the real deal. I believe there's a decent contingent of supporters going along. :cool:

I remember Brian Moore of the England team going Eyeball to Eyeball with one of the Kiwis during the Haka - he just kept advancing on them until he was almost head to head - scary stuff.
