Osu!!!

I have been looking for a "good" kyokushin school in my area for some time, and have come up empty and disappointed on many an occasion. It has been a good 7 years since I attended a class, but before then it was 4-6 times a week, 3 hr sessions, for almost 2.5 years. Due to military transferes and my career field as Field Service Engineer, I have been unable to stay in one spot long enough to find a school or commit to any structured training program.

Now that I have settled down, got a family going, and a stable (non-travel) job, I want to get back into my training. I have been looking around and checking out various schools that claim to teach Kyokushin or at least a traditional style with comparable training practices. I have been sorely disappointed by the amount of commercialism and "Tag-tournament" schools I am finding.

Does anyone know of a "good" traditional school in Massachusetts that is within driving distance of the Hudson/Marlborough area?

Someone has recently started teaching at the gym I attend and the class is listed as Kyokushin for 1.5 hrs twice a week. I am going to check out the class tonight and can supplement additional training time on my own to return to the training session level I was used to. I am very hopeful that this class will be legitimate.

I would appreciate any suggestions on an approriate school that still has the training and passing on of Mas Oyama's teachings in mind over the commercialized schools I am plagued with finding.

On a lighter note!!! It is a pleasure to meet you all and I am happy to have found a forum so full of information on Kyokushin. Since I left my class in Arizona, I have really felt a part of me is missing all these years. I know what is missing and now that I am at point in life to have it back ... I am willing to work to get it. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Respectfully,

Jason

Jason,
United Kyokushin is not really a kyokushin school and the one in lawrence has been closed for 3 years......
One in Methuen though even though the instructor is a 8th Dan they really don't teach kyokushin as we know it.
Where did you train before and with who.
I teach private lessons in NH just over the mass border but only to B/B for the moment, I'll soon be opening a Dojo (once a building is found)

Thank you for the responses. The class that has started up at my gym appears to be legitimate. FINALLY! The class was conducted with all the proper Japanese terminology and was exactly what it should be physically. I am going to give it a few sessions to make sure it was not a fluke. The Sempai was not there last night so one of the 4th Kyu lead us. I was told a local Godan ( name escapes me ) will be visiting the class on Sept. 28th. That is pretty exciting and I am looking forward to really training with someone of that caliber.

Again, thank you for your responses.
