Ronda Rousey showed her world class judo skills in a great fight with Miesha Tate this past weekend. In only 5 fights, she is now the 135lbs champ.

Kickboxing ( that is modified for MMA ) plus Judo ( that is modified for MMA ) is certainly a good Mixed-Martial-Arts method.

This is why I like Kudo so much.

Of course Jiu-Jitsu mixed with Muaythai, or Boxing mixed with Wrestling are also good combinations.

Well done R.R.!

The transition from standing to ground is what I enjoy most about judo. The arm bar she does is her signature move that she's been doing since she was a little girl. Here she does the same move in judo.

That was an exceptional fight. In the past, whether it be in kickboxing or boxing,

in the woman's divisions, you would have maybe 1 or 2 dominant women and the

rest of the division looked as if they did not belong. Now the talent pool has appeared

to have gotten deeper. Within a 20lb. spread, it looks like Cyborg might have some

healthy competition.

What makes Ronda unique is that she is the most accomplished fighter to fight in women's mma. He's been a 2x Olympian, Junior World Champion and Senior World Silver Medalist. She may have less than 10 mma fights, but she has a crazy amount of grappling experience. Ronda experience surpasses the others (from a clinch range and grappling standpoint).

Osu! Rhonda is extremely good at her grappling.

However, if you were to notice, she did get lit up a little bit

against Meisha during the standup exchanges. She needs to

tighten up her boxing and maybe crosstrain with Master Toddy

in Vegas for her kicking game. She is off to a great start and still

very young. I think she can improve enough before Cyborg is eligible

to fight again.

I was talking to a guy about her striking earlier. She works out at a good boxing gym and train kickboxing. It's going to take time to get her to do those things well. She's tough and takes a good shot. So, she doesn't really have to change anything because there are no women in MMA with one punch knockout power and can deal with her clinch. Some think Cyborg can. But Cyborg isn't one punch knockout fighter. She's big and strong, but Ronda use to fight 70 kg in judo, so I don't think we'll see her have to throw a punch anytime soon. Her Judo\Grappling skills are all she needs right now.

So what do you think about when Kyra Gracie enters MMA in 2012? There's a weight difference, as I think Gracie mainly competes in 125 lbs right now, but that's not a huge spread from 135.

That should be a pretty interesting war on the ground, as Gracie has quite impressive grappling credentials.

Ronda is stronger and more explosive in her attack and her ability to transition is what makes her unique. She has the edge in controlling when the fight goes to the ground. We'll have to see wht Kyra looks like in MMA first.
