Martin H 06-29-2007, 11:33 PM Lol! Anyone got a good (and copyright free) picture of actual karate to replace it with? :-) Nice to see the link to this site there. Maybe someone with more time than me can add it to more knockdown karate related wiki pages effectz 07-02-2007, 05:00 PM oh god ... that picture needs to be replaced. swollen knuckles 07-02-2007, 05:50 PM someone change that asap Shokei Marcsui 07-02-2007, 07:28 PM full contact karate - Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=full+contact+karate&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2) eamoncramb 07-12-2007, 10:06 PM omg im gonna have to change it ill copy sumhin off of google peepz will think were pussys cant have kyokushin looking like tkd no offence Liu 07-12-2007, 10:58 PM omg im gonna have to change it ill copy sumhin off of google peepz will think were pussys cant have kyokushin looking like tkd no offence You can't take anything from google and put it on Wikipedia... There are copyrights, my friend. Unless it's a free picture or the author/owner allows you to post it on wikipedia, it's not possible to steal pictures. By the way, TKD is a respectable martial art. Don't call millions of people "pussies". nzproud 07-12-2007, 11:15 PM Osu. You won't be calling them pussies after you kumite vs an experienced TKD fighter. TKD is another great martial art like kyokushin. Martin H 07-13-2007, 12:33 PM actually having looked at it again, That picture was heavily padded light/semi contact children/youth karate, not regular TKD as I first assumed. They just happen to use tkd style vests. I guess it COULD be heavily padded full contact rules for kids, even if I doubt it. Still a good (and not copyrighted) Kyokushin picture of a WT KO or something, is definitely needed. eamoncramb 07-13-2007, 12:36 PM sorry guys that wasnt very nice of me i just think tkd is realy un practical Satori 07-15-2007, 02:20 PM Sport TKD isn't... but the same can be said of sport karate. Although not widely trained anymore, there does exist a martial and very practical side to TKD. General Choi's TKD was not the TKD we widely see today... eamoncramb 07-15-2007, 06:50 PM osu i c but they prance about wi th a low guard and stretch their kicks out and it looks really goofy and desperate looking for any chnce but i must admit i have seen some great kicks in tkd but not very often Satori 07-16-2007, 01:19 AM Please fight someone from the North Korean army, one on one, hand to hand. If you come back, continue bagging it out. Liu 07-16-2007, 02:09 AM Please fight someone from the North Korean army, one on one, hand to hand. If you come back, continue bagging it out. Lol... There's a Korean military video on Youtube. Watch out for their unpredictable techniques :D. YouTube - North Korea vs South Korea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCxdku8sx-A) Martin H 07-16-2007, 08:39 AM OK, enough bashing. Whatever TKD teach, WE teach humility and respectfulness. Or if nothing else, just to be polite. Get back on topic. Kurisu 07-17-2007, 04:50 PM The photo is not a full contact style though, look at the gi. Does anyone have a person photo that they would be willing to post on the wiki page? 49ers1970 07-17-2007, 05:14 PM Hello, Tae Kwon Do has excellent kicking techniques. What I do not like however in the Olympic rules format is that once the two fighters get into punching range, the referee breaks it up and they have to start again from kicking range which therefore eliminates overall skill development in both punching as well as kicking range as well as learning how to defend against punches in an alternative tournament format as well as on the streets. On the positive side, the footwork is deceptive and the kicking can be very deceptive when trying to defend and counter against these tactics. A good Thai boxer or knockdown fighter has to make note of these tactics in order to defend against them effectively. For example, Patrick Smith, a Tae Kwon Do student and full contact fighter dominated many opponents in the Sabaki Challenge in the late 80's early 90's with his Tae Kwon Do kicks combined with the regular knockdown rules. In a K-1 match, former Knockdown fighter, from England Michael Thompson knocked out a Thai boxer with a popular Tae Kwon do kick, the spinning side kick because the Thai boxer was too square in his stance. The Korean arts are not all about sport. They also have their self-defense arts, like Tang Soo Do, Moo Du Kwan etc. Also, there have been some fighters from Korea who have fared respectively in K-1 competition. Mas Oyama also originally was from Korea. Take care for now, Peter nzproud 07-17-2007, 10:06 PM 49ers1970 san, Serkan Yilmatz is another good tkd fighter. http://www.youtube.com/v/NBdtzh8y7sc Osu. Satori 07-18-2007, 02:12 AM Well said 49ers1970. Martin H 07-18-2007, 09:35 AM Or Keiji Ozaki in k-1 Max. he is only 1-2-1 yet. but he is one of the most skilled and exciting new fighters in MAX, and the loses (and draw) were all very close decisions. Still. get back on topic! No more on the TKD issue. Does noone have a good, visually exiting, knockdown picture. Taken by yourself or by friend (who you can ask permission), to put up alongside that padded karate photo? nzproud 07-18-2007, 09:45 AM I can get Mustang to do highkick on me then picture when im on the ground sleeping. :D |
