I was on Seoul, Korea on business, last week of Aug/first week of Sept.
The offices in Seoul are very close to the "Blue House", which is the Presidents residence (similar to the White House in the USA).
One morning, as we are driving through the grounds to get to the office (after going through several check points, and passing plain clothes and uniformed police/secret service)...we came across a sight, that I can honestly say I have never witnessed in my life, a new breed of police officers!!
I give you evidence of the sighting!
(for your reference, I am in the pics, shouldn't be too hard to figure out!!)

Vapor - that is just too.....well....weird! Weird good but! Their police are a lot thinner than ours! I guess rollerblades are good for them.
I rollerblade, and I just wonder about how easy it would be to get away from the Seoul Police. Just step onto the grass, or up the stairs!!!!

I just wonder how a police officer would be able to do any close fighting, grappling, or joint locks to his quarry with wheels under his feet? and are kicks even possible on rollarblades?

Yes :D:D:D - but you go backwards when you hit anything....
Lol! Excellent! Maybe they have quick release roller blades. Or another way from getting away from them run around them in circles and push them over!!! :D

Do they even have some sort of communication device to call for help if they need it? I mean.. it looks like they are armed with only a watch.

They do have radios....(left hand side of the last picture, by his watch!)
To be honest, I think that they are there for the tourists...
The other pics that I didn't get were the guys in red versions of the above outfits, who were on bikes....or the dozen plus plain closed guys who were spaced out about every 30 feet up and down the roads...
(you can see one in picture 1, right hand side, on the sidewalk.
You can see same guy in picture 2, standing next to the child
In picture 5 there are three plainclothes...two guys standing together, and the third one is by the wall)
It would have been more impressive if I would have taken pics of the ones with semi automatic weapons, who were by the main intersections (who were NOT wearing spandex!!), but I value my life, and deemed that there was no need to be the focal point of an international incidence!!

Ouch! Damn you! Now I remeber some instructionals from the early 80ies where they showed karate with rollerskates (american karate, nothing to do with kyokushin) Ive seen once.
I had happily suppressed that!
