I saw this from the dojo website of Nakamura Makoto Shihan and think everybody can give a try. This is a fun quiz of some Kyokushin knowledge and trivia. There are "iro obi" and "kuro obi" chapters and each contains 30 questions. Please Kakatootoshi, I have answered these questions to myself as best as possible, and I would be curious as to how well I managed to to complete them. Will you make the answers available in some manner?

Thank you for those answers!

I was happy to see my results. It looks like I've been studying my terminology, and information enough to make a good show on this test.

Never heard of it , when did it come in to being ? as I think it is meant to be the incorrect answer.

We have never done the Sokugi katas here (though they do exist but I thought there was only three originally). Im not sure when they were brought in to be honest.

I know about the fourth, was a requirement of 1st kyu. It may have been one made by Hanshi John Taylor

Sokugi 1, 2 & 3 katas were introduced by Sosai Mas Oyama.
I have no info about the #4, but would like to.

Just looked at the post you directed us to , very informative and indepth , there's a lot of stuff there that wasn't around when I started Kyokushin , so it's not beyond someone creating a Sokugi # 4 is it ?

Yon is a bit tricky, launching ushiro Kakato mawashi Geri from zenkutsu dachi and landing back into zenkutsu i find awkward. Definitely the hardest of the 4. I'll try and dig up a video of it

I think the Japanese website based the questions/answers on the Kata syllabus approved by Oyama Sosai/practised by the major organisations in Japan.

Osu, thank you!!!!! My technique still needs work, especially spin kick from left foot.

Actually, it is not that noticeable - those spinning kicks look good and makes me embarrassed that I'm getting older ...:o Way to go and keep it up.

I just wonder what the idealogy was in creating these sokugi kata based on Taikyoku embusen ...
