EddieP 02-01-2008, 09:52 PM OMG....man handled...that girl just didn't know what hit her...poor child.... tmd 02-02-2008, 12:06 AM Pass on my congratulations, it was a very well times kick - it looked instinctive, as the best moves always do. kyokushin4life 02-02-2008, 01:11 AM That's what we call "Ichigeki!". Osu! seienchin 02-02-2008, 10:53 AM a beautiful example of a fighter moving to the side/circling and creating a space where their opponent isn't sure what angle to defend. Textbook stuff. Fabulous! OSU-EN2 Bloke 02-04-2008, 10:27 AM Great KO but once again I didnt see the call to the doctor and the fighter was allowed stand up on her own. ksan 02-04-2008, 11:43 AM I didnt see the doctor at all or was that the guy coming up to the center of the stage just as she gets up, and he then walks off again without doing anything ? Bloke 02-04-2008, 01:06 PM I assume he was the doctor - poor medical care. tmd 02-04-2008, 02:27 PM Poor medical care may be a new thread Bloke, I know for our sakes as a small organization for our little events all of the instructors and assistant instructors have had to pass first aid courses, we have several with advanced levels in first aid, dealing with autism, epilepsy etc. For out local tourneys we always have a Doctor present and when I got my nose busted he was on me quick as a flash and made sure I didn't do anything stupid like stand up to quick! Have been to other events and would swear to there being no medical care available at all, and without throwing stones these were 'semi' contact events and I saw a lot more blood spilled. :( Bloke 02-04-2008, 02:44 PM I hear you tmd - this is just one of many videos I have seen recently where someone got Knocked down and there was no medical help or it came very slowly. Surely the first priority must be the safety of the fighters? Off topic I know - sorry. goldberg2310 02-04-2008, 03:14 PM osu, poor medic and poor coach who sent this girl on the mat. without watching the vid, i knew who will go down when both girls entered the mat. no expierience and not ready to fight - that is a wrong thing in my opinion. was she there for punishment? the other girls seems to be more expierienced... Osu-EN1 tmd 02-04-2008, 04:15 PM Don't think it's too of topic as it can have an effect on the fighter who won. I know if (used to be when :) ) I knock someone down my first thoughts are, are they ok as we are competing martial artist, not thugs in the street. This girl fought brilliantly and I think she showed good enough skill to see her become a highly rated fighter but can you imagine what would have happened if her competitor had been seriously injured must because of waiting for proper medical attention? I doubt she'd have continued to compete or even stay in karate, goes for the audience too, which is why if I'm thinking of taking part in a tournament under a certain org. I try and watch one first to see how well run it is, the aim of knockdown is after all to stop the other person by inflicting either a knockout blow or enough blows to render them unable to continue - fairly serious stuff which deserves the respect of the organizers to be able to cope with any potentially serious injury. Bloke 02-04-2008, 04:19 PM Well said Tmd - Most of the tournaments I have been at have had incredible medical teams - and they dont all wait to be called on either - once they see a downed fighter they are in on the mat straight away. But it only takes a little delay or no medical intervention at all and we could see some serious consequences. goldberg2310 02-04-2008, 05:54 PM osu, i think some of the medics have no expierience in knock down fighting. they change within the country at different torunaments, cause everybody has itīs own stuff. one of the ablest and funniest docīs i have seen, was that guy on last years diamond cup in belgium. :D on some big tournaments, the ref hast to call the medics sometimes. and sometimes there is no real doc there. the ref has to look for a hiding help... :( maybe their job is not easy... in my opinion, every fighter who enters the mat, has itīs own right for a good help - if needed. and in kyokushin that is not seldom... Osu-JP1 helenosch 02-04-2008, 08:56 PM osu, one of the ablest and funniest docīs i have seen, was that guy on last years diamond cup in belgium. :D so double that! funny he was... we used to wait just to see him getting up and down the mat :D and he was so nice... He didn't do much for me though when I got knockdown/fainted and he told me I could get up again... my body thought no, but he couldn't know, but afterwards I thought it funny But I agree, that doctor/medic wasn't really fast on the scene; i think a knockdown like this, he should've been (a lot!) faster on the mat Nix 02-04-2008, 10:03 PM Most of the tournaments I have been at have had incredible medical teams - and they dont all wait to be called on either - once they see a downed fighter they are in on the mat straight away. This is not always an advantage. Sometimes I've seen new medics (new at a karate tournament at least) who rush onto the mat almost before the fighter hits the floor. The refs needs time to decide what to judge, something which cannot be done if medics is crowding the mat. In my opinion, the medics should not enter the mat unless in acute cases or called by the ref, but should of course always be ready to step in immediatly. Bloke 02-05-2008, 09:35 AM Nix I agree if they are over eager it can make things hard but in the instances I was referring to the fighters were actually down on the mat before they make a move. Nix 02-05-2008, 02:48 PM Nix I agree if they are over eager it can make things hard but in the instances I was referring to the fighters were actually down on the mat before they make a move. Yes. The problem might not occur so much under Kyokushin rules, but other rules (like the WCK-ruleset used in Ashihara) allow the fighter to be down for as much as 10 seconds before a Knockout is awarded. It's therefore somewhat problematic if the medical team is too... in lack of a better word, "hysterical". tmd 02-05-2008, 08:06 PM It's therefore somewhat problematic if the medical team is too... in lack of a better word, "hysterical". I gotta say I've never seen a medic act too quickly, maybe it was the guys mother :D Shamo 02-06-2008, 07:59 PM Isn't this a clip from Last years Golden Cup right here in Montreal? Nice Timing on the kick! Tigeress 02-12-2008, 09:53 AM very nice timing! congrates! |
