Nicholas Pettas Shihan is the producer of a new fight event called "Smoker's", which is to be held at Azabujuban, Tokyo on 2/29.

In the event, teams of 5 will fight against each other and the winning team is decided by accumulation of points from 2 kickboxing fights and 3 MMA fights (details like type of fight and weight to be negotiated between team captains). Hantei victory means 1 point and KO victory means 2. K-1 rules and HERO's rules will be used in the kickboxing and MMA fights.

Dear Martin H,
This is different from Shidokan. I think it is 5 people and each fighting one of the 5 fights.

Hmmm. Sorry, I must have read something wrong. For some reason I took it as each fighter switched rules different rounds.
I cant understand where I got it from.

It is announced that there will be a new kakutougi event called "SMOKER' s" produced by a kyokushin legend, Nicholas Pettas! The event consists a team of 5 fighters against another team. There will be 2 kickboxing fights(k-1 rurle) and 3 MMA fights(based on HERO'S rules).

A decision win can give the team 1 point, and winning via KO can give 2 points.

The SMOKER's event is to be held 6 times every year. It is interesting to see what teams will join the SMOKER's in the future.

Here you go:

Seems that they have already hold a couple of successful events.

Just came across these pictures from a friend I used to work with.
This was held at the restaurant ZEST in Ebisu...(I used to eat lunch there almost everyday!)

I am going to guess that this was very recent...as she updates her facebook page with pics all the time.

A friend of mine fought at this event. He won by KO with a jump spinning heel kick to the ribs. Looked like a great time.

Exactly what I was thinking!
I really liked WCL, does it still exist?

A bit off topic, but... WCL is still around, and growing.

Really doesn't seem like my kinda event at all. Eck. To be honest, I'm actually kinda bummed that Nicholas Pettas is the one that started it; it really changes my perspective on him! I mean seriously, seems like the some of the worst elements of Japanese society were there. OK, OK, I'll step off my soapbox now heh.

Pettas Shihan has been a respected figure in Kyokushin, while you may not agree with what he does, please demonstrate to the Kohai that courtesy is important in Kyokushin (nothing personal) :) .

Thanks. It feels good to know that I'm not the only one that thought so :D
