Hi everybody!:)
Had anyone hear about Japanese Shinbukan karate, they held tournaments called "real fighting open tournament'" in mid-90's. There were open hand face strikes and some grappling allowed. QUEST film company released some videos,
now I can't find any information about it. On youtube only some kind of aikido or karate I've found:confused:

The specific "Shinbukan" should be "Zen Nihon Kakutogi Renmei Shinbukan" which organizes "Bujinhai".

???????? ???[??/??/??/???/??] (http://www11.ocn.ne.jp/~sinbukan/index.html)
(there should be more than a billion Shinbukan, so read the full Kanji name).

They still have fights in Fukuoka (?) and I am not sure if there is a rule change. Perhaps they are not using open-hand strikes anymore, any expert advice?

The event in 2004 had rules liked this:
Tsuki, Keri, Nage, Shimewaza, Kansetuwaza all legal standing or ground.
In the mount position, punch, hiji, ganmen hiza geir from four point position are all legal.

just cannot find their adult fights on youtube

Some of the fighters from the "Chaos Madmax" events were from Shinbukan.

I see what you mean by "billions." It's a popular name and searching in English is difficult because of all the results!

Can anyone tell us nore about this style/organization? Looks interesting.

In 1993 and 1994, alot of current bigger name SHOOTO and Japanese kakutougi fighters fought in the Championships. I think but I am not certain young Hayato Sakurai and Rumina Sato fought in some. This was in the days before hundreds of MMA promotions exploded into Japan. I know for certain PANCRASE and DEEP fighter Masakatsu Okudo did in fact fight and won the heavyweight division from 96-02. I am willing to assume journeyman MMA fighter Izuru Takeuchi has probably fought in one of their tournaments as he has done everything from Sambo to Toryu Hisae (and for those in the know, he prolly should stay in those and away from MMA since his matches provoke audience to litter the ring with garbage).

Dear Decadent~!,
Okuda did fight in a lot of Shinbukan tournaments and in fact he holds Godan in Shinbukan.

And what is "Toryu Hisae"?

Toryu Hisae is a silly group that tries to make old style Wushu into a spectator combat sport. I hear they hold fights where the combatants are blindfolded to simulate a cave battle. The founder apparently is a big Jackie Chan fan. I think its defunct now like J-Do, which I presume is a Judo offshoot group. Do not blame me. I used to collect the big profile mooks but am behind since 2007 or so.
