What do u think about drinking redbull before training?
Some people said to me that it is dangerous to drink it due to taurine and some say its good and it gives energy.

I have moved away from Red Bull and have tried the 5 hour energy drink. The advertising says as much caffeine in a cup of coffee. B12 vitamin is 1000% of DV.
Good luck.

Me too ....... Unless of course you add Vodka:)

I'd ask myself why I want to do that before training? If it's just for an occasional boost after a long, hard day, then maybe... If it's to help push the body as much as you can, less so... If it's to use as a permanent crutch, then definitely not.

have a read of this and see what you think
The Ecologist - Behind the label: Red Bull (http://www.theecologist.org/pages/archive_detail.asp?content_id=918)
from my own opinion, not good idea!. I drank a few before a heavy training session once and because of the ammount of caffine in them which increases dehydration plus what i lost in sweat during the session, i had dyhydration sickness for a few days after, A: because i didn't replace my lost fluids properly and B: because of the Red Bull.
Not touched it since and you cant beat quality H2O!

Just give it a shot. You won't know until you try it. It could make you really focused and you get more out of your training.
I drank an energy drink once before training when I was really tired. My energy came skyrocketing up and crashing down half way through training. Now I know not to drink one before practice or before a match.
It could be totally different for your body.

I think the stuff is nasty - even adding vodka doesn't do it for me. There's other stuff I'd rather mix my vodka with...
I just don't care much for energy drinks in general - they have loads of caffeine, sugar and empty calories and I think its better to get your energy from a quality diet. Just my opinion...

I haven't had a RedBull yet, but that doesn't sound like a winner. If hard liquor doesn't improve a drink, it must be a bit shady to start with.

I used to drink red bulls with vodka almost every weekend from around the age of 22-24 at the club and similar drinks. I used to drink kratingdeng(Thai red bull) before every muay thai session for about a year straight..got hooked on it and remember getting headaches from the withdrawals when I quit. It's bad news so these days I cut down my consumption of energy drinks to maybe 1-2 a week with no booze in it. Saw a report how mixing stimulants(energy drinks) with booze is very bad for your heart.
It's not a good drunk feeling to feel drunk but feel too energized that you can't go to sleep all damn night, neither. Just my .02 cents...I need .98 more, spare some change?
I won't lie, Jagerbombs are good but Jager sux..it's like candy and too easy to get drunk off of.
Ideas for Jager commercials:
Girl is swinging on an empty swing that's not swinging because her Dad is no where around to push the swing with a tear rolling down her cheek..*cue* Jager!
Male pulls a g string out of his mouth and says to himself "Did I eat a stripper?!!" *cue* Jager!
I'm drunk on Halloween performing only what I can say a sexual act on my pumpkin *cue* Jager!
p.s. courtesy of Dave Attell ;) and sorry to my PC minded crowd.
Usually not one for stereotyping but whenever I think of somebody that drinks jagerbombs here in the states this is the kind of person I think of...warning..some "adult" language is used:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JMOh-cul6M

Ugh, Redbull before any athletic endeavor is a no-no for me. The crash after the initial boost is definitely NOT worth it!
A better alternative, if you really need one, is a (reasonably sized!) cup of hot, black coffee followed by a mouthful or two of water. It's a bit of an after-work pick-me-up, and a hot can help you loosen up a bit before what's sure to be a vigorous training session (as they all should be, right? ;) )

I think Red Bull is one of the worst things you can drink before training or any kind of activity full stop. You want turbo charger energy think about making your blood ph more alkaline.
if you are trying to lose weight for a fight and cannot shift those last few kgs , if you want to change your body from a sugar burning body to a fat burning body , if you want to ensure that your blood is fully oxygenated so that it delivers energy to your muscles in those key clutch moments make sure you are alkaline... it does work I cannot say that I'm perfect at this yet it takes practice as you're changing a life habit (I love my coffee in the morning and a glass of wine on a Friday night) but I can say I haven't had a cold in 2-3 years.... or been sick virally....
Read this...
Do you know the pH of a healthy body? Our blood has a pH level around 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly alkaline. pH measures how acid or alkaline a medium is. From 1 to 7, pH level is considered to be acidic while from 7 to 14, it is considered being alkaline. 7 by itself is a neutral state. Why do you need to know this? Our energy level is heavily dependent on our pH level. And having a diet that would restore our pH would boost our energy level.
It all starts in the bloodstream. Think of the bloodstream as a superhighway with stops all over the body. Red blood cells are the commuting traffic riding along the bloodstream in a hurry to get to work. These red blood cells each have a negative charge on them, and this keeps them from getting into fender benders and collisions in the bloodstream. When the negative charge is stripped away from the red blood cells, they cluster together and can cause gridlock and bottlenecks in the bloodstream. In short, the traffic in the bloodstream is not flowing as smoothly and it causes everything to slow down. If you've ever been stuck in freeway traffic you know how frustrating this is.
With the pressure increase in our blood, it has a negative impact on our body. This usually causes us to feel tired and sluggish as our energy is being sapped away. One of the reasons behind a blockage in our bloodstream is due to acid. When acid enters our body, it neutralized the negative charge of the red blood cells and causes it to stick with each other and bang the ceiling walls of the bloodstream. What can you do to avoid this? You can simply ends this by taking note of what you put inside your mouth and into your stomach. When the stomach digests food, natural acidic waste is left behind. The type of foods also influences how acidic our blood will become. Our body eliminates these wastes in the form of urine and sweat however when excessive waste are piled up in our body, it is simply impossible to eliminate the acidic wastes.
What does your body do with all of the acidic waste it can't get rid off? The answer is quite shocking, it stores it in your body! The cells in your body are mostly alkaline and this acid waste starts to attack and destroy these cells. A lot of energy is expelled keeping the waste from doing detrimental damage to your body, but this fight can only go on for so long. Eventually the build up is so great that the cells deteriorate and cause energy depletion and leaves the body open to disease.
What can you do to save this situation? You would need a higher energy level to fend off the diseases and allows us to have strong cellular regeneration. The first thing we should do is to change our diet by reversing this breakdown of our body. Whatever we eat would determine how much acidic waste gets stored in our body. The more alkaline food we choose, the lesser the waste would be accumulated in our body which would ensure us of a good health.
Lx
p.s
Red bull is extremely acidic... more later... when I can post links but if you "you tube" tony Robbins Alkaline you should get some good info.

I only drink Redbull before our beach training (5:30) in the morning so it can give me a boost, and to wake me up. But apart from early training I dont recommended it because it will give you initial energy but after a while you will hurt more when ur muscles slow down.

I like Red Bull but I can not drink it very often as it fires up my atrial fibrillation (had it since I was a kid.). But so does excersise, liquor, stress and too much fat.
I am curious about the acid/alkaline diet that *********** mentions. I will look into that a bit more, as I can see further detriments of acidic blood as well as alkaline bodily fluids.

I met a woman in Manhattan who claimed to be the original distributor of Redbull in the U.S. As we were commenting about the xtra large cans you can buy she said that Redbull consumption can lad to kidney stones and some other health issue (My A.D.D. Kicked in). Anyway, she said the ingredients dehydrate the body and it should only be consumed with large amounts of water "and never with alcohol. Truth????? I have no idea, warning, yep. But they say failure to use directionals and running stop signs can be life threatening too but someone forgot to tell that to folks in NY and NJ!!

Caffeine is a powerful diuretic, so the water thing must be true.
Not sure about alcohol, but:
- Alcohol in excess is also dehydrating the body;
- They have antagonist effects on vasoconstriction (tightening vs loosening of blood vessels)
- they both modify restraint & behavior.
...something undesired is likely to happen...
Not too sure either, but I think they cannot be sold with alcohol in France.
Like most alkaloids, it is addictive --- What next? Amphetamines? Ephedrine? cocaine?

Buffy: My mom said some things to me about being the Slayer. That it's fruitless. No fruit for Buffy.
Angel: She's wrong.
Buffy: Is she? Is Sunnydale any better than when I first came here? Okay, so I battle evil. But I don't really win. The bad keeps coming back and getting stronger. Like that kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.
Angel: Dike. (Buffy looks at Angel like he means something totally different) It's another word for dam.
Buffy: Oh. Okay, that story makes a lot more sense now.
