I hope this girl sticks to jiu jitsu and wrestling...and picks up some muay thai/boxing/etc. on the way... She's so sick:

YouTube - Kimberli Smith,.. the "X"terminator

Funny thing about this above match is the male wrestler's father sought her out for an exhibition match for his son to show off on..go figure.
I feel bad for the boy.

YouTube - Kimberli Smith @ "Ground Zero"

Enjoy, I know I did!

p.s. She's only 13!

Awesome ground skills for her age. If she keeps it up she could be the next big thing.

Thanks! sorry about the music, not my videos! The sponsor of the rash guard she's wearing in the first clip posted this on a MMA forum I sometimes go on..so I saw she has some other videos on youtube, too.

Dent, hopefully I'll see some HL videos of your daughter destroying some boys in competition!!!

You know, some people just don't understand risk/benefit ratios do they...

If the boy won...people would probably say "and so he should have...she's a GIRRRRL">
Risk if he lost - whole cascade of yukky gender-stereotype driven self-doubt because boys are supposed to be able to beat girls. (Had this in one of my own junior students once who just couldn't get it through his head that technique and speed were what mattered, not gender!!!!).

So, unless that dad was thinking that
a) the boy would get wapped,
b) that would motivate him like nothing else on earth to train hard....

then methinks this poor boy has been very badly done by.

Do you think UFC will pick up women's mma like EXC?

Couldn't agree more, especially at an age where males and females can be the same size or not that much in difference. Everything I've seen of this girl's training and hearing from her sponsor about her makes me think if she lost to that boy or whomever that would just DRIVE her more to train harder. This is the kind of attitude one should have when competing. I don't care how good anybody is, they can always lose because of whatever reasons (bad judging/reffing, medical condition or sick, opponent lands "lucky shot", etc.). Everyone should expect to "lose" at some point, even if it's to a female, big deal! I know a few female grapplers that could submit me and a few I'd "let" submit me in a triangle choke..sorry, couldn't resist.
One of my favorite Rocky Balboa quotes that I think can be applied to not giving up, continuing to train, etc.: "But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit…and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done."

One of the best lessons that can be taught in the Dojo is that there isn no shame in losing, only in giving up. No amount of talent equals determination and drive in the game of Life.

IMO, as long as we teach this, we can use every loss to benefit ourselves and others.

Dana White has definitively stated that womens mma will never be in the ufc as long as he is in charge.

They already have too many fighters applying for their divisions, and other men's divisions standing by. At the end of the day, I think it's more about the best way for them to make money than en ethical debate.

Osu! I agree with that. Dana White is all about building the UFC to make money and I suppose he just doesn't see female fighters doing that for him. He's probably right - I am all for female competitors in any sport, but right or wrong, female sports just don't sell tickets.

Actually, Dana White recently has talked about having Gina Carona(who I always spell wrong but have trained next to at Toddy's, go figure!) fight on his WEC promotion.

There is smackgirl promotions in Japan for females, Bodog and other smaller organizations too. Women's MMA will eventually grow and grow just like male MMA competition has and is still growing.

There is Women's Brazilian jiu jitsu, NAGA, freestyle, greco roman, etc. etc. going on.

There's a lot more opportunity for women to fight now, but I think that most punters want more blood than they expect (Rightly or wrongly) to get from female fighters.

Also, less chance of getting into trouble from looking at this: http://mmamania.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/sapp.jpg

rather than this: http://www.brickcityboxing.com/media/carano_weigh_ins.jpg

the guy could change his mind but from what ive seen him do and say, and what ive heard about him, and reading between the lines, i wouldnt count on it. he also doesnt want tournament style events in the ufc either simply because he hates them.

as far as im concerned with regards to mma that man is the devil. however youre right, thats a debate for another thread.

She's got great base and great basics. Loved the flair on the double leg. Then the boy got the headlock on her at about 4.45 and he was absolutely desperate trying to finish it! He'd had enough.

That was great. Who's her coach?
