Even if possible. Youtube reduces video quality A LOT!

If your on firefox you should use this (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/). It's much easier.

When you have seen all the video, you can find it in our folder "internet temporary files" ... then you can copy this file and the you can convert it in .avi or .mpg ...
I do this with total video converter...you can find this software by google...it's very simple to use...

The other program you can choose is Camtasia Studio, it records a selected block on your screen, so you select the block where the movie plays, start recording and play the video on youtube untill it ends and then stop recording and convert to the format you want it. Its not the best since youtube doesn't have the best quality, but its an option.

Yes it's good. I actually used the program to record some footages of sosai from youtube.com then I used it to make a highlight of Sosai.
The good thing about is that you can make the flash video to avi/mpg format which are more popular for personal uses.

A easy way to save the vdeos:

Enter in the following address: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

All video of youtube has a code in the right side of the page (URL). Copy this code and put in the page and click in download. When appear the "Download link" , click and down the video

To watch and convert the video you must download the FLV player in the same page.
Watch the video first in the youtube untill the bar go to the end. When you download the video will be in few seconds.

Free standalone flv player.
http://applian.com/flvplayer/?src=VideoDownloadPlay
I dont know of any flv cdec that enables you to watch flv in a regular movie player.

Mozilla firefox plugin to save flv movies quick and easy from youtube and most other flv video sites.
http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
There is also a field where you can paste a youtube (or other flv site) directlink, and save the video through the web page. But the firefox plugin/extention is SO much easier.

Thanks blackdog for the link, although I found it useless when I have tried to convert a flv file to something avi in the past. Not with what you mentioned though. :)

To save youtube videos to your pc, I find it the most useful to use an add-on for firefox.

YouTube Downloader 2.4

Its a very simple program that lets you copy and paste the URL of the YouTube movie and press START and starts converting in AVI, MPEG or FLV.. you choose..
Like all others.. its not the best quality, but its an option if you really want to get a movie you saw on YouTube.

"YouTube Downloader is a completly FREE Software. It contains absolutely NO ADWARE, NO SPYWARE, NO REGISTRATION, NO POPUPS, NO MALWARE or other unwanted software."

DOWNLOAD

Free source or free beer? ;)

If you're feeling really 1337, you can always view the source of the webpage and manually extract the link to the video, paste the link in your browser and download the video.

That is for movies played on Windows Media, not on YouTube or sites wich use flash to play flv movies..

Sorry, but you're wrong.

Let's take the recently posted...

YouTube - DVD€ŒŸŒ!大山“ †’Ž健™‚€ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9uzTOczwaM)

...as an example. View source, then go to the line where it says:

var fo = new SWFObject("/player2.swf?hl=en&video_id=V9uzTOczwaM&l=122&t=OEgsToPDskLbuSin7wYQiN7JIOWZEqW9&soff=1&sk=y6ux9LKtUvxr8ETtr3NIHwC", "movie_player", "450", "370", v, "#FFFFFF");

What we want from the url is the video_id and the t. We now merge the two to create a url as follows:

http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=V9uzTOczwaM&t=OEgsToPDskLbuSin7wYQiN7JIOWZEqW9

Paste that url into your browser and you will be prompted to download the video.

The url is automatically truncated in my post, but copy link location to see the full link or mouse over.

Yer normally you can get videos from source code but many people can't be stuffed doing it or don't know it. Plus capturing it in avi/mpg format is better than swf in editing wise.

If you have Real Player installed you can download any online streaming video into Real format. It is super convenient. Yes, you can download YouTube videos using this method.

Listen to smoothsake, Real Player v11 does the trick and not only for youtube but for a lot of embedded video websites. Ous

or if you hate realplayer like me (its a bloatware infested with spywares), and use mozilla instead of explorer, you can use DownloadHelper - Media download Firefox extension (http://www.downloadhelper.net/) to download from youtube (and most other flash video sites).

And then use Free FLV Player. Download the Applian FLV Player (http://applian.com/flvplayer/index2b.php) to play them.

take the .flv file, and drop it into SUPER... it will convert it back into .avi
SUPER will also convert it into .3gp format for your mobile phones.

SUPER . (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html)
