Does anyone have any insight? sokaiya 07-02-2009, 07:03 AM Where you living? There was a thread on this before on Seoul dojo, maybe it can help you.. http://www.kyokushin4life.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5330&highlight=Korea jungsun86 07-02-2009, 07:10 AM I'm in Korea as well. Where are you located? There are several Kyokushin schools here, and if you have Korean friends have them look up Kongsudo 공수도. It's the Korean word for Karate, and it will lead to what they call National Empty Hand Martial Art (a tribute to Oyama's Korean blood). friedmandu 11-26-2009, 03:23 AM I currently live in Bundang, a suburb in the Seoul metro area. I train at a great Kyokushin dojo in Sujin-dong (red subway line). If anyone is in the area, feel free to contact me through this thread. Here are directions to the dojang: 1) Go to Sujin Station on the Red Line 2) Go to Exit 1 3) At the top of the stairs, turn 180 degrees, and walk to the street in front of you that is perpendicular to the stairwell 4) Turn left at this street. 5) Walk straight to the first traffic light. 6) Turn left. 7) Walk straight for just a little bit, the dojang will be on your left. It is just past this metal scrapyard that is also on your left. If you look up, you'll see lots of advertisements for the dojang. It is in the basement of the building with all of the advertisements. The instructor, Sabumnim Hong Park, knows a good amount of English and is a great teacher. If anyone posts in this thread with a location of where in Korea they are located, I can ask him if he knows of any Kyokushin schools in your area. I'll subscribe to this thread to try to catch any new posts. seattle 11-27-2009, 11:31 PM One of my students also trained at this dojo. He really enjoyed his time there. Off topic: friedmandu, I suppose you might know Paul. I suspect he would say Hi. friedmandu 11-28-2009, 04:02 AM Osu! Paul and I trained together for almost a year, and he was an essential teacher who helped me grow from a white belt into a yellow belt. We keep in touch--I hear he's doing great in Seattle. Saw a bunch of pictures from the tournament he did well in. vapor 12-01-2009, 05:07 AM cue "it's a small world" soundtrack!! vapor seattle 12-01-2009, 05:25 AM Small world of Kyokushin, indeed. Always makes one feel good to hear one of there students has represented well at another dojo, especially in another country. |
