This is not an everyday accounting. Just enough to put the fear of guilt,
for not keeping a steady routine.
Done all weight lifting for the week. Completed two boxing classes. Hit the pads on Fri., felt good. Shoulder and knee have no negative effects. Going to hit makiwara after this submission, have been delinquint:( Next boxing class Tues. morn.

Did another boxing class this morning. Various conditioning drills and bag work
also punching combinations w/shadow boxing.
In the ring. One person holds 25 lb. medicine ball. Other punches ball for 3 min. w/16 oz. gloves. All in all, good lung work. I'm hoping to add road work when I feel my knee will handle it. For now, all body parts are holding up.
Tomorrow, weight training.

Made it through another training session. Gotta admit it, I like hitting the bags and pads. It's the only aerobic work I can do fer now. I need a lung transplant:D
Also knocked off weight lifting this morning. See, unemployment can be beneficial.

Did weight lifting on Sunday. Monday rest. Today, Tuesday completed
another boxing class. Another week, if my knee is still good. Will try a
kyokushin class. Been off an on since August :(

Skipped weights yesterday, body needed extra day for recovery.
Did boxing class today. Can't wait for the lungs to improve. One of the women will join our group next Tuesday, too do pilates with us. Will add a new element to our training.
Weight lifting tomorrow. I will fess up if I don't.

Fri., did weight training. Rest till Mon. Makiwara snow bound, have to rely on bag work.
Sat. night, Boxing has Club tournament. There are 22 schedualed bouts.
Whole lot a punching going on. Taking my two sons (girlfriend,tentative) to support our fighters and the event.
Will post videos, coach will probably have a few.

hey...you're only 45 minutes north of me and I have about an inch in some spots. I know you get more snow up there but how much in total did you get? 6 or 7 inches over two snow falls? Doesn't the postal service require that you clear your mailbox? Mine does. You need less clearing for you to stand in front of the makiwara.....grab a shovel and drop the excuses brother!!! :D

Make sure to blow the snow up into huge drifts right around where you'll be training first, for better effect! ;)

Did boxing class today. Kinda informal, I did try to push my lungs on our
mostly bag work.
Left shoulder said to back off. So I did try to limit the amount of power towards the end.

Nothing serious. Just too much work in one class, lifted weights yesterday.
Just have to build up it's strength, not too quick.

Fell off the weightlifting routine. Had too many guest in for the Holidays.
Oh well, might just start boxing 3 days a week and add running.
For now, still out of karate practice.

Ous Fred, I too missed "the joint", and youzz guyzz. My Girlfriend finally brought back Her PC from a vacation in Puerto Rico.
I'll be be here more regular.
Oh. For the record. I've been boxing three times a week now. No sparing yet.
Don't know when I'll do some Kyokushin practice.
BTW Fred. Did you ever post up some pictures of You and Your family
in France during the Holiday?

Boxed on 2/9, Tues. Right shoulder is sore from hitting heavybags too hard the week prior. Didn't train Thursday, waiting for plumber:mad:
So I go Friday morning 10:a.m.. Note on doors says gym open 3 p..m...:(
Shoulder still sore, so I'll rest till Tuesday morning. Rather let shoulder rest, my age it won't make or break me.

Changed up my diet, eating schedule, training regime, and still gained weight for the second month in a row. Starting to get angry about it... :mad:

Well, due to the weather. Only had two days of training. Can't wait for the Spring like conditions to arrive.

Its very hard waking up in the morning before goin to work......what i do i just wake with my pyjamas on go straight to the door and do squats atleast 500, push ups 200, 300 situps and then do some stretching........when i come back late from work, i can start training my karate.........how is that to start a day?
You'd be better off with a cup of tea.

Yes there are. I didn't bring my gi, haven't tested my knee with a karate training session still. When sitting and cross my legs, my knee still lets me know there is some soreness. I probably will "test" it in a March session with Godai. Of course, I'll maintain some limits as it will be a test session.

Haven't been to the beech to make pleasant judgings..:D Went to the Daytona speedway. Picked up a few T-shirts for my sons. Got an autograph
message from Eddie Trotta of Thunder Cycles. He's ben featured on the Biker Buildoff series that ran coupla years back.
Been riding my Girlfriend(Alida)/brother's bike. He's very gracious, letting us drive or ride any and all his vehicles.
I'll probably be coming home a lil before Alida this week. Haven't done any training. My weight is now 205,:eek:
Gotta get back to sweating this oldies arce off:D

Sorry bout that Fred...Miami??? Don't know anythin bout Miami, I were In Orlando..
We actually avoided going to Miami.
Anyhoo, Had fun for the 14 days we were there. Just being in warm weather of Florida was terrific! Went to Daytona in a Jeep..:eek:
I've been to Sturgis(oldest biker gathering) and Daytona. Both Bike events
without a Motorcycle:( One of these days, going to show up dressed proper. Picked up a few T-shirt sovenirs for my sons.
We went to her sisters house last weekend for a nice lunch. Rode the brother inlaws bikes round the block a few times. This past Sunday, we celebrated her sister inlaws birthday. We all enjoyed an all you can eat Chinese buffet...:D
Man, am I gettin a gut.
I finished the book purchased on Sunday, flying home yesterday.
Not very eventful, soaking up the warm climate was the goal. When we got home yesterday, it was 62 degrees. The snow is almost all gone. Was able to ride my own scooter first time in months.

This my 2nd practice since returning from a two week "vaction". Worked conditioning and bags for an hour and a half. A half hour longer than the usual.
My lungs were feeling the missed training. I sure hope to shed some of my 205
(+/-) lbs. Hopefully carrying less weight will allow me to have better stamina,
power etc. Gotta admit it. I really enjoy this boxing. My knee still has some slight discomfort. I wonder when my first kyokushin practice will occur.
I think continued traing in karate or boxing, will define me.:D

Had almost a full hour of training today. Tried pushing myself, forcing the lungs too work harder. Felt good. Snow has melted on back deck. Will be adding the makiwara to my modest efforts.

Trained again Thurs. and Sat.
Sat, warm-up/ shadow boxed with heavier hand weights.
Went thru 6 drill (burpees,plank, squats,step etc.) stations, taxing my stamina a lil more.
Then worked the bags, with mustard on the punching. This had to be about the hardest I've pushed myself. Lasted an hour and a half. Just have to keep this pace, steadly increaseing the intensity. Desired results should occur:)
P.S. Sparred lightly, a few minutes with two of my sons today. Had fun...:D

Thank you. I actually have had to back off my jumping movements.
After making good progress in pushing myself, my right outside thigh has balked w/pain. Took it easy yesterday(Sat, skipped stations) also. I'll see how my leg responds Tue. training.

Going to pick up my youngest son Michael. This will be the 2nd weekend
of training together. He has a good work ethic and takes advantage of the
time in the gym.
Will be doing pretty much the same as mentioned in post#96.
I'm too old to waist my time, so the sweat will be on the floor. Been putting out 3 days a week without interuption since March. I can't recall missing any. If I had, I would mention my dissappointment.

Thanks Ros. We've actually made arrangements for Mike to Box Saturdays. He'll also be resuming Tang Soo Do this week. Pretty sure this will
give him 2 days karate, 1 day boxing.
Saturdays are erratic, Today, coach(Brian) is just there to gather the team to go spar another club. Our workout was a little shorter, lungs were
opened up and aired out with a good amount of sweat.
This was a 1.25 hr. session
Sat. 5/29

Been keeping my 3 day a week schedual. Thursday's training was just over an hour. It was a hot humid day and I showed up feeling unenthusiastic.
Yesterday, took my son along for his Saturday class. We trained for almost an hour and a half. I pushed myself with good intensity on stations
that included burpees, squats, planks etc.
We did four rounds on the heavybags. I had great effort on these drillls
of 4 min. 4 rounds w/one min. rest with the assorted punching combinations.
Just for fun. Since my shoulders have been feeling stronger, I approached
the weight bench. Using an Olympic bar w/2 ten pound plates. I just did
a few half reps. As long as my shoulders continue to feel O K, I'll try and resume a simple weight program in addition to boxing.
All in all, I'm satisfied with my conditioning.

I haven't posted here much lately, this is an update. My boxing gym closed sept.19th. We were suppose to have "a new" place. The coach said the deal fell thru and I'm waiting to hear of our "new location".
Other than that, I've been doing a weight lifting routine at home. Everyday I feel the stamina and conditioning gained over the last year leaving me.
Hopefully, there will actually be a new gym in the future.

I would also say if you don't have one already to get a heavy bag at home.

Actually, it's a pretty large 20 wide by 30 some odd feet long dance room.
Mirrors on the side of a long wall, with a decent linoleum floor. Easily cleaned, if you know what I mean;)
The piano sits in a corner, they do acting, dance and other exercise classes.
We aren't able to hang a heavy bag or other various equipment:(

He might as well have skipped for all it matters. I was very happy with my improved conditioning.
I spoke to Brian(coach) the other day. He's going to build or acquire a building. As he put it, going big. This way, he'll also own some real-estate.
This is suppose to happen bout two months or maybe lil bit longer.
There is another boxing gym nearby. If I can afford it, might add it to
the kyokushin training. The catch is money. New place is 15$'s more per month. I'll be losing $100 per month extra stimulus money. Would have been no problem if the stimulus money didn't end. Oh well, ain't going to cry.
Just having fun getting my gi sweaty again.

Well, I've just had my first day of training @ the boxing gym. Will only be able to train Saturdays.
Had a lot mof fun doing the drills an breaking a sweat.
I'll let you know how sore I'll be in a couple of days. At my age, I know the body will revolt from the surprise of effort:)
Hey, I actually backed off during the workout. BUT, still gonna be pleasantly sore.
Now I'll just have to incorporate a kyokushin practice twice a month.

Man, walking around is pleasantly painful. Climbing in and out of the truck is,well. painful:D
BUT, it's a good kind of pain. The kind you enjoy when having fun praticing
"the Art"
