First Entry - Severn Challenge 2007

The Severn challenge is a clicker tournament originally fought between Wales and England (the river Severn divides these two countries). It started about 7 years ago and after a couple of years Switzerland were invited to join. In 2004 Ireland were invited to join and just this year Holland came on board.
It is normally a mixed team event of 5 boys and 4 girls aged between 10 and under 16. Cadets (16 to Under 18) team of 3 boys and 2 girls and and individual competition with 2 boys and 2 girsl from each country.
This year was just a team event to allow for Cadets Knockdown (or Kyokushin rules as it is called in the IFK)
It was a great weekend - the Dutch were very good despite there relative inexperience with clicker. England came first, Holland second and Switzerland third.
I dont know how the cadets went as I had to get a flight home.

The tournament was great. I have to correct you though Switzerland came 2nd and Holland 3rd.
The Cadets knockdown was very good! They all showed an amazing amount of potential for the future. There was 3 categories, boys heavyweight, boys lightweight and girls lightweight. They all fought in a round robin competition (all fought each other in there respective categories). Girls lightweight was won by Wales, 2nd Switzerland, 3rd Holland. Boys lightweight was won by Holland, 2nd England, 3rd Wales. Boys heavyweight was won by Switzerland, 2nd England, 3rd Switzerland. |

well i will have to add to that. weldone to all the coaches (Especially Tubs!!) to get the juniors going and they are some good fighters coming up.
No fear, good technic, speed and good spirit: they are here and will show us some good fighting. Thank you to all those coaches, parents who spend the long time and travelling distance to allow us to watch them. |
