Self Defence Nonsense

Self Defence Nonsense

Ask nearly any martial arts instructor whether his art is superb in a self defence context and you will get “absolutely” as an answer. From Tae Kwon Do sports practitioners who leave their arms dangling by their sides in sports competition to Tai Chi instructors who have never sparred in their life and move at a snail’s speed, everyone thinks they have the answer to a life-or-death street confrontation.

And they fully believe in what they are doing...

Achieved Brown level

Posted 02-01-2009 at 11:50 PM by supergroup7
On Friday I was belted with 2nd kyu, brown belt rank after a rank test that spanned over a week in time.

I was informed that I am the first student in more than 20 years to achieve this level in our dojo, and that I am the first woman in our dojo to become Brown.

I am honored, and humbled by the responsibility, and challenges facing me. I do desire to become the best example of dedication, and spirit that I can for myself, for my Sensei, and for my fellow training...

Osu!

I am feeling really good about my training latley.

The only area that I feel is still weak is my roundhouse. Latley I have been working on it and it is improving alot.

If you dont have a Gymboss timer I would get one! It has helped me so much latley! Bag rounds have never been easier!

Again I have K4L to thank for my progress. It started with my bro and his father in law but my training has progressed so much since I found this place.

The Wall

Posted 01-26-2009 at 06:56 PM by MilkManX
So I feel like I am begining to hit the Wall.

I wont let that stop me but its frustrating when your technique seems to degrade for some reason or your conditioning somehow feels less.

I do believe that for the most part our Sensei has been pushing us alot harder since there are no White Belts(we just got one though).
