Iain Abernethy seminar
I was at the Shihan Abernethy seminar in Nottingham at the weekend and enjoyed it a lot more than the last one. I think it was coz the last 1 was at the end of a camp and I was mentally drained.
On the advice of others, I did take a notebook. When I dug it out at half time, I realised I had no pencil!! It was too late to find 1 as the break was just 10 mins. What I will say is the stuff we covered (pinans+ a bit of tekis) you will find on his dvd on pinan/heians. He does change the applications from time to time though, as he always stresses not to be rigid in your understanding of bunkai. It is great to actually be at the live show and doing the bunkai with like minded people. Shihan Iain spoke a lot about "setting datums" ie , when 1 hands striking, the other will be grabbing or otherwise helping accuracy with the striking hand/foot or whatever. I hope this makes sense. I will post again when I am less tired and can remember more. All success to this forum! OSU! |

Dear boldboy,
Thanks for your report. Please take a good rest and share with us some bunkai insights when you have time. OSU!
