Osu!
Gotta let the inner bastard out to play. With koshi garuma, I wouldn't think it'd be too difficult to sneak a haito uchi or bicep "bump" to the carotid while gaining control of the head.

I think it's all about the height. Unless I have a decent height advantage, I don't see me getting it done.

It's also a compliance issue. I'm certain you can be more persuasive in these matters.

In my opinion, bunkai is an interpretation of the kata moves, almost never exactly as the kata is performed.
You have to bend the moves to suit the situation.

Osu! senshido,
Even as we each try and interpret kata bunkai, I resist the temptation to believe that kata are like cloud formations or ink blots where any interpretation is as valid as the next and depends on the mood and perspective of the observer. Without a final arbiter, we're all searching in the dark, some warmer, some colder, but still in the dark.

I was taught that the jump is actually an exaggerated backwards kinteki geri with the left kakato to an opponent directly to the back-left of you. I believe this is the official IKO1 bunkai for this move. Osu

I'm certain I read a long time ago, in a very old book, or maybe I was told very early on that this technique was for the purpose of leaping over burning logs rolling down a mountainside battlefield *two raised eyebrows*. This bunkai was so EXTRAORDINARY I embraced it immediately and proliferated it mosly to see the expression on peoples faces. I'm probably highly irresponsible. I have given this explanation when tested & it's been met with dumb blinking & a quick change of subject... which suited my purpose nicely!

Osu! Aunty Ichigeki,

That could have gone nicely into the Outrageous Statement thread!
