no offense but if chest protector where made to protect sternum men would wear them too. i usually dont wear a chest protector ( it is a personnal choice) but i have a few friend that will use them in tournement the have the model that is made of material so it doesn't restrain their mouvement and help avoiding the smurf look the next day.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, Lucy. ![]() Getting hit hard on the protectors could leave some bruising in a specific area. The marks may be blue. Smurfish. ![]() Osu!

Hey, I wonder if everyone wear chest protector in dojo while training? I normally don't wear it until I was told that the combat is next and wear it before it start.
Two ladies in my class, normall wear it before combat. It would be ok if wear it every training in dojo? OSU |

I'm trying to find a suitable guard for my wife... she currently uses a maxi guard which is hard plastic and digs in round the edges when it gets hit. Can anyone tell me the best place in the UK (or a link to a web site) to get a more suitable type, I have checked on the net for some of the types mentioned earlier in the thread but didnt have any success finding them.
Any help appreciated |

Generally , I don't recommend wearing a chest protector for every training session. In fact, I don't recommend wearing them unless you have to. My reasoning is that they develop sloppy habits in terms of guard, and habits are what come out under pressure. One of my friends always used to wear one, and it broke in her shodan grading. She had to finish without, and it was very hard, as she was totally not used to it. So - practise to get used to it, but do practise so much that you are useless without it! ![]()
