Picked up a pair of Windy gloves. That should ease me into bare knuckes.

Question!
Hi everyone.
I'm looking for the best type of gloves for tournaments. I'm looking for something thinner and lighter than normal boxing gloves, and I like to fight with open hands. For now, I'm hesitating between these two. 1. These are coated with cloth. They look pretty comfortable. ![]() 2. These are made of leather. I think they are more resistant than the cloth ones, but they are not as comfortable. ![]() What do you guys think? By the way, I'm buying them because I have to wear them for the tournament. My knuckles are hard enough to fight without gloves. Thanks a lot! OSU! |

Some tournaments I notice do not allow the use of cloth pads. You would probably be better off getting the leather ones. Although they don't look all that secure.
But if I were you I would definetly consider open finger MMA gloves for fighting. They stay on your hands, allow for grabbing, not too much padding but not too little and they'll last alot longer. Get something from this page http://www.combatsports.com/SearchRe...ategoryID=2312 I personally use these and love em http://www.combatsports.com/detail_tuf.aspx?ID=22227 |

It depends on what im doing if im hitting the heavy pad i use open fingered gloves similar to the ones you show but with a longer wrap section to go round the wrist a few times to support it and a bar built into the palm to grasp and help absorb the shock of impact, other than that my skin is my glove .

while i train, i just keep a cloth padding...i take a long piece of cloth and wind and tie it, that's all i do..i think thats better, it will save your skin from tearing and will give th knuckle the hardness for which we're hitting..but the knucles get swollen at the begining, after getting used, there wont be such a problem..personal opinion..hehe...

I agree with veeevek use a bit of crepe of crepe bandage to protect your skin from splitting and tears when doing bag work, then use a pair of mits when sparing to take away some of the sharpness when you spar with your friends

MMA gloves when i spar (we have to) No gloves for bags or pads, I used to have all the skin rip off on the bags but now they are hard and the callous doesnt move.

Satanclaws indeed.
Way back when I started training you used bare knuckles. Nowadays we use WINDY open fingers bag gloves. |

Osu! I use a style like the numbers 1-2 or barefist! (but not all the time). They work pretty good.

I am glad to see this thread...I was thinking about starting one on the same subject.
I am investigating gloves to wear for bag work.... I will take into consideration all that have been mentioned. vapor |

I use type 4. I have 8oz (use most often) and 16oz (if we're not fighting for realism but have some other purpose, or I want to hit full power without hurting an inferior opponent). I also have a set of open-hand point sparring gloves, but I rarely get to use them since we don't often explicitly do point sparring, just full or semi contact where point sparring gloves are counter-productive.
