This is the online store that I got them at....it is all in Japanese, so it may not show up right on your screen!

Super quick delivery to me...I think I had them the day after I completed my order....shipped to my office here in Tokyo!

Thank you for the link, It gives me an idea of the price. It showed 2,363 yen (i presume) I will convert it on a money converter to figure out how much in Canadian dollars.

You know if they will ship it to north america?

Man sometimes i wish i would live in Japan

That works out to be about $23 CDN

2,363.00 JPY = 23.0098 CAD

They don't do international shipping...

I am here in Japan!!! If you have paypal, and want to send me the money, for the supporters and shipping, I will be more than happy to order these for you, have them ship it to my home, and send them on to you.

Try football (or soccer) shin pads they absorb most of the energy but theres still enough there to give you some good bruises and strengthen your shin.

Fairtex make good shinguards and do thigh guards in a similar HD black vinyl for serious protection, most people in the dojo have the white elasticated numbers but we dont tend to use them much,i find im lazier than normal with my kicks if im using shin pads the potential pain of a misplaced kick helps my focus .

Billy we use the same ones - problem is that even after one use they stink and it doesnt take too many washes for the elastic to go so it ends up being a trade off.

To be honest I tend to use them less and less as I get older.

I do this if I have an injury, under my normal shin pads. That way I can keep practicing, without worrying about making it worse.

I use Budo Nord shin pads with velcro straps. They are quite decent, but after a few years, the velcro will refuse to stay in place. The same as Kris posted earlier, but with a simpler design and no protection for the achilles heel.

They should be delivered tomorrow!!

(I actually kind of wanted to get these in black, but yesterday morning, I stopped by the dojo and chatted with my Shihan about it, and he recommended/suggested getting the white ones...that made the decision an easy one!)

So hopefully these will offer a little more protection, and not slip around on my lanky legs!!

can you still get your hands on these, or know where or how i might be able to? OSU, thank you

I use the basic white Isami guards, no velcro straps. They're great but get pretty stinky pretty fast. D:

So, is the consensus the slip ons hold better or the tie ups? Is their any that are a combination of both?

I like the look of these ones. How do you find they hold? It says they are held together by elastic and velcro bands but I can't tell which one is which.

Do you guys suggest getting the whole foot protection or half foot? Vinyl or non vinyl?

I've switched from the black leather (pro) Windys to the white cotton Isami w/ velcro straps. I'm now thinking its better to condition the shins with the lighter guards + I was slightly bothered that my Windys were black. Back to the whole conformity issue from that other post...

FutureProdigy, go with the half foot. You will need to make a proper chusoku.

OSU!

I will second this. I have some nice Combat Sports brand shin guards with a full foot covering. It really interferes with making a good ball foot.

Mine are leather on the outside with a rigid, shaped foam liner covered by cloth on the inside (toward the shin). You can't throw these in the washing machine, but they don't seem to get stinky like the basic white foam ones do.

I've seen some Twins brand shin guards at our dojo that are vinyl on both the outside and the shin side. The good thing about this is that they're easy to wipe down after use. The bad thing is that they're slippery and don't stay in place. I believe the guy who has them wears them outside his dogi bottoms now. That's certainly not ideal.

The vinyl (or other synthetic) stuff seems sturdy otherwise.

My sensei occasionally tells us that the white foam shin guards, when left unwashed, start to smell like a dead body. This is usually after someone has accidentally left their shin guards in the dojo overnight. Having been subjected to a partner using these bio-weapons in the past, I have to agree.

I personally like Isami's D-547, it's very comfortable!

I got mine at ChokeSports.com

Osu!

I bought some of the Combat Sports neoprene ones, and while they don't move much, they are difficult/ frustrating to get on and off.

I bought some of these for my g/f they're a brand called Zett

Nice decent product with protection for the haisoku without covering the toes... Just what you need when using the chusoku. Only $19 too... bargain!
