Purchasing a Kyokushin Gi?
I'm looking to buy a new heavyweight gi. What website would be a good place to find one? And preferably one that can embroider the kyokushin on the lapel.
OSU Marc

generally isami is the official supplier of the kyokushin gi.
most kyokushin, if not all, are fairly light weight. I don't think I have seen one heavy kyokushin gi. Light ones are generally better anyways, for mobility reasons. Talk to your branch chief, he can generally supply you with an official one from Japan. |

Sad to say we don't have a martial arts store here in Texas.
I might just take your suggestion and buy a gi and embroider it here.

As ponchoflash suggests, ISAMI is quite a famous and good brand for kyokushin gis. They have gis made of different materials and you can (not for all models) buy the top and pants separately. The website of ISAMI is
http://www.isami.co.jp/english/index2.htm. Another two brands that worth checking out are Budoshop and Kwon. Budoshop www.budoshop.co.jp (website, with english version) http://www.samuraispirit.org/Budosca...ushin-dogi.pdf (the catalouge of kyokushin gis) Kwon www.kwonusa.com (the full-contact gi in the karate goods section) Before you buy a gi, make sure you get all the measurements, embroidery correct! you can always buy one from Canada, generally easier than buying from Japan.
http://www.kyokushin.ca/merchandise.html or contact Kyokushin New York, they sell the Kyokushin gi from Isami as well. http://www.kyokushinkarate.com/contact/docs/contact.htm |

Dear ichigeki31
You try first entering the japanese website www.isami.co.jp and choose "english" on the top right hand corner and see if things get better. OSU!

You need to send an email to Isami first because they need to know which Kyokushin Group you are in. According to Isami, price on Gi fluctuate depending on your group. Also you can select either k-400 (K-200) or K-500(k-300) gi. K-500 is made in Japan and k-400 is made in China.

I think he meant a gi without kyokushin embroided on Gi.
I personally don't know if it is possible to embroide the kyokushin mark on k-350. You need to find out by sending email to Isami. They will probably charge you extra for that if it is possible. Depending on your IKO group, you need to pay extra for having a kyokushin letters embroided on Gi. I think if you belong to IKO1, you have to pay that loyality. I was surprised to see how much you have to pay for shipping a Gi. I live in North America, and according to the chart, It costs 4700 yen (about $42) to ship. I usually buy it online and send it to my parents in Japan before they visit me or I visit them. If you are lucky enough to have someone in Japan visiting you, I would recommend you will ask him/her to bring it to you. |

Dear andytaro,
I suspect K-800B(not shown in the online catalogue) is the "kanjied" version of K-350. Dear ichigeki31, I think andytaro is right. You just send an e-mail to ask if they have the already embroided version (here I mean no extra embroidery required. Sometimes the same dogi is produced in versions with embroidies of different groups - but these differneces are not shown in the online catalogue) for the doji you want. And in case they do not have it(which is rare for ISAMI if you are asking for the original KYOKUSHINKAI kanji) you can ask for an embroidery with an extra fee. OSU!
