Welcome to the site...perhaps you can start a thread in the INTRO forum, and tell us a little more about you, and allow members to give you a proper hello! As to your question about Isami vs. Ichigeki....tough call. I can tell you that at the dojo in Asakusa, dogi's for new members used to be all Isami...when the Ichigeki dogi's became available, those are the new standard, and most of the yudansha have replaced their Isami's with Ichigeki... Perhaps others have worn both, and can comment vapor

Vapor
thank you kindly for your post. i appreciated the help. you seem to be very knowledgeable, so i hope you won't mind if i asked you or any of the forum readers another question... the reason i am asking is because, i have big thighs and big calves and the pants that i have now are size 7 but yet they are still very constricting on my legs. so if anyone can help me, can you please tell me which company has bigger pant legs for the same size? ichigeki or isami? thank you |

For that one, we will need to have someone who owns both to comment about the width in the legs!
(I own isami btw) vapor

I see that you are under IKO1. Its pretty much your personal preference. If you want to wear different go for Ichigeki one. it looks cool too with the kanji writing on the dogi. i believe the ichigeki branded dogi are more expensive.

thank you nzp. i like both brands, the only thing with isami is that the kanji has to be embroidered on the gi, so i am afraid to order the wrong thing, come to class and be the only fool without the kanji on his gi. LOL. with ichigeki i am guaranteed that the kanji will be there. my guestionis still, which one has the bigger pant-leg width? the pants that i am wearing now are size 7 but they are american-specs cut. so when i wear them, it is still thigh and when i do my jodan mawashi geri or anything that requires me to kick high, i am always afraid to split my pants. LOL

I think some suppliers do split sizes, ie. pants are larger than jacket, etc. to accomodate different body sizes, have you checked this out?

Hi,
I went to both the Isami and Ichigeki stores last week and you can buy gi's from both with the Kanji embroidered on them. I have had both and I don't have a preference other than the Ichigeki has the new logo's on the pants and left sleeve which looks cool since it's different. Ichigeki charges the same price for light weight and heavy so that may be a factor when comparing costs... My preference is still the unbleached natural colour heavy weight gi. I think that the unbleached look is more traditional and it reminds me of my earlier days training when everyone wore them. OSU |

Yo, Joeurgod...
If you're still reading this post, I would say the Isami gi is more baggy for the same size versus the Ichigeki. I own both so I know this for a fact. If you order the Isami gi from Sensei he will make sure that the kanji mark is on the gi when you receive it. Both are roughly around $100. Osu. |
