we had a lot of probleme when we tryed to upgrade are hitting pads ours starting to be old we bought new one (the old type is not availiable anymore so we had to switch) Our first try wasnt so bad that lasted 3 weeks before the stiches eploxded. 2nd try diffrent cie well they didnt last 2 weeks so we went back to the store and they told us that they Never saw anything like that before so they gave us new one it Must have been cie default. In terms of martial arts equipment, I never will buy anything with of a general sports brand.

We've used the BAC pads for eternity. They are durable. It seems I can't find the exact model we're using, it seems they either haven't bothered taking a new picture the last decade, or we use an upgraded version.
Like these, only ours have black straps with a rubber around one of the straps for comfort.

When it comes to pads my preference is Winning and Title. Winning is very expensive but extremely durable. I bought some pads in Japan back in 1997 and after 11 years of lots of abuse they're still as good as the day I bought them (minus some dirt). I also have a Winning KB2308 Big Mitt. When we stack that up against the Isami Bit Mitt at the dojo there's really no comparison; Winning is far superior.
Title Boxing is great too. They have a MMA product line that has a lot of gear that can be used for knockdown training. I'd stay away from anything that Century or Adidas makes. I haven't had very good experiences with their equipment. When they design their equipment they probably don't have a full contact fighter in mind. |

OSU Mary222,
I have had this problem as well. I have bought from a few local suppliers here who each one assured me that their pads would last forever and the pads have all given out rather quickly. Either the stiching goes, or the fabric tears or the padding disintegrates inside.... Very frustrating. I just bought some of those 5" padded shields from Genesport in Montreal two weeks ago for the first time. I don't know if you tried the Genesport ones or if those are the ones that you have had problems with. So far they have been good, but the blue dye is coming off on our Gi's. It seems to wash out without staining which is good news but the blue on gi's and hands after using them is not so good. I am sure this will pass soon as the dye goes out enough. Have you used the Genesport pads and what was your experience with them if you did? ![]() |

Best place for gear is Thailand. Relatively inexpensive, particularly when combined with a training trip. And always ask for a discount. ![]() Osu!
