How much do you pay for monthly dues to your dojo?
How much do you pay in monthly dues at your dojo? (I am guessing that there are going to be a wide range of numbers due to the different countries and markets that everyone is living in)
I am in Tokyo Japan, and our monthly dues are 10,500 yen---or about $90 US$ a month. What do you pay? vapor |

We charge $55 NZ but a lot of our students are on the old rate $40 NZ = $25US / mth!!! And we don't charge short stay visitors but we might grill you for training techniques & gossip or get you to take a session if you're high enough grade! Wellington, NZ is a great holiday destination - drop by anytime!

I envy you karate kev. Prices in New York are ridiculous.
$120/month if you pay by cash or check. $105/month if you pay by credit card. And then there's the 3-month deal, 6-month deal or the 1-year deal. You save some bucks, I dunno. Next week, I'm signing up with Kyokushin Karate New York (IKO-1) for the 3-month/$295 + $100 registration fee (IKO1 Uniform, Shin Guards, Hand Guards + IKO1 Membership). So overpriced. -___- |

I agree, I won't be able to afford and train with such high price.(lucky me!)
I pay $40/m and also use their gym for weight training. I'm very happy training under such quality instructors. Osu! In japan, I remember paying 10000yen/m.. Quote:

I am doing Zendokai (Full contact karate) in Japan for 9000 yen a month. Karate 2 hrs x 2 a week. One night a week there is grappling session and a lot of free time with access to the dojo for training on your own.
On top of this there was a fee to become member. For next tournament I will pay 10500 yen. That includes the ride to Nagano and possible grading. (If I pass the cost for the belt is included) Normally a tournament is 3000 to 5000 yen, depending if you are grading or not. DOGI was 10000 yen. Gloves and other protectors are availible at the dojo.

I charge my students $35 a month for 2 classes per week (in Greeley, CO). In the next month I will increase dues to $40 a month and add a third day per week.
Back in Seattle our dojo was at a University so we only charged $20 a quarter (3 months) with three two hour classes a week. Non-students had to pay an additional $30 a quarter for access to the gym. In Pullman, WA (eastside of the state) it was $50 a semester (about 4 months) and you had access to train at two dojo's up to 6 days a week. The Ellensburg dojo charges $30 a month I think. The USKKA isn't about profit so most of our dojo's monthly fees are really low.

I pay $801 per year, so about $67 per month (Australian dollars). Quite expensive i think, but it's a full-time training centre in the middle of the city also offering classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Boxing. So a reasonable price for the facilities they offer.
I'm there most days a week, so i guess i get my money's worth. Better than sitting around at home lazing on the couch, eating and watching tv....(i think??!) |

I know that certain Kyokushin schools in California charge atleast $125 per month (paid in quarterly installments).
I give semi-private lessons and don't charge. All I ask is that students donate equipment or money to purchase equipment. |

Osu,
At our Honbu (San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines) rates are: PhP500.00 membership lifetime, PhP500.00 monthly, training schedule is everyday of the week not to exceed 12 sessions per month. Training ranges from 2-hour reqular training, an additional hour to two hours for fighters training. Outdoor trainings are also conducted quarterly. Dogi price ranges: PhP750.00-PhP900.00 depends on size, good quality material used; marks are Honbu logo and Kanji. Included in training package are: Weights training and Escrima or Arnis de Mano. There are grappling sessions conducted by Japanese guests, however not frequent. Osu! |
