Its Yoshimon Karate a style of kyokushin?
Hello every body and thanks in advance.
Does anybody know the origins of Yoshimon kara-te, so far all I know is that it was brought to Cuba in the late 60's and is also practice in Spain, it is also known as operative or scientific karate. The practitioners do not tournament spar, for its techniques are solelly gear towards pure combat self-defense, I can attest to it's effectiveness, it was employed by the cuban secret police during the 1980's riots when I was still there, mind you people in cuba generally practice some form of self-defense, i.e. judo, wrestling, boxing, savate, ju-jutsu, and the G2(DTI) people were kicking every body's butt. In Cuba only military special forces and the para-military secret police are allow to pratice this type of karate. A friend of mine who has a shodan in kyokushin told me that the person who introduce Yoshimon in Cuba was a former kyokushin practitioner, he was a Japanese merchant marine who's ship would regurlally dock in havana harbour. So aside from that bit of information I don't know anymore. So, its yoshimon karate another form of kyokushin??? Thank you. Osu. Last edited by ryudo; 11-17-2006 at 06:16 AM. It seems that yoshimon is a offshot from ashihara (the larges style descended from kyokushin) but I cant find much (and what I do find is in spanish - a language I once studied, but today at most can count to 10 in -and possibly say a few rude words)

Im not sure that is the same style.
EDIT: Sorry, you are right. The ashihara angle came in through Kaisendo, which apparently is a meld between yoshimon and ashihara. My mistake.
