A question!
OSU!
I whant to ask a question for the karatecas that are in this world for some time...First i want to say that i pratice karate for a wile(3 years) but is a very tradicionalist dojo(and i like very much and i would´t change for nothing). But i want more contact and i now that kyokushin have plenty of that.I´m studing a way to pratice but....i listen to some friends and they said that, and this is the question, the extrem contact without any protection is paid when we become older?(dificulties on walking in the morning, problems in our joins).Thank you!

pedro silva,

Thanks for signing up for the site, and for your post.
I think that it is important to remember that the full contact aspect of kyokushin should not be confused with an "all-out free for all", in which punches and kicks are given and taken with no thought or strategy.

While the tournaments may appear that way, the tedious practice and repetition of moves, blocks, body control, etc., prepare your body for that level of interaction.

As you are already a karetaka, you must be familiar with the other aspects of karate as a whole, in which kyokushin is very much centered on, a balance between kihon, kata and kumite.

Body awareness and advanced understanding of how and when to push the body can in many ways prevent the wear and tear on the body in the older years.

Granted, if you read through the "injuries" thread, many members have encountered numerous broken bones, sprains, jammed joints, etc.
But, that is part of the program, and it can't always be avoided.

I had a light fight vs a kickboxer about 2 months ago and one of tendons that runs near my toe still hurts when i touch it.

But think about all the kyokushin, kickboxing, muaythai and mma fighters. They are usually healthy after years of training and fighting
