How many different programs do you have in your dojo
As I plan to open a new dojo, I have decided to have 5 different programs (not upgrades but true programs), each progressively getting harder in training, requirements, hours trained, etc..

I was wondering if those of you who own your own dojo’s share your success or disappointments on this subject.
Please I'm looking at programs that do increase training requirments and are not just upgrades into Leadership or Black Belt type programs.
Looking for things like going from standard Karate to knockdown or boxing etc...that type of progression.....

Please give details on your success and or disappointments

we have:
1.Ipan keiko-official training open to all levels
2.tournament training-for fighters only
3.black belt training-for.................
4.Judo ground work training

No gradual progression from one to the other.everyone does ippan keiko, all the rest depends on will, time, money.

I can't say we follow a system of progression at all. 'Those that can' tend to gravitate toward the more advanced classes & 'those that can't' tend to be content with general classes. We have different styles in the facility but they are independent clubs taught by experts in their own style so if students want to evolve into another style it's up to them (& their budget). Sorry can't help.

I teach Kyokushin, Boxing and Kickboxing at my dojo (in my garage). I actually went the other way and started most of my students doing Boxing and Kickboxing and then started teaching them Kyokushin. Some people may think that it is backwards but it's actually worked out quite well. I think techniques in Boxing / Kickboxing are much more simple than in Kyokushin in that there are less moving parts.

We run the following programs right now.

- "Fighting & Fitness": a lot of bag and pad work, working out with strength using the body as weight as well as dumbells. Punching and kicking technique and limited amount of sparring with protection.

- "Knock down": This is sparring, knockdown rules. Basically everyone attening these classes compete on different levels.

- "Kyokushin kihon & kata": In this class there is only kihon, ido-geiko and kata.

- "WKF": We have strong tradition in our dojo on comepeting in WUKO/FMK/WKF comepetitions so we still have this class. Not many people but they are reaaly good.

- "Grappling": Only once a week. This is submission wrestling tought by a BJJ brown belt.
