It is worth remembering that every good thing that is done in the world is done by a person who is imperfect.

IMperfections.
Sonofkanga....consider yourself trapped by the vagaries of forums...
I wrote "...person who is imperfect".
Jap-Man then asked "what person is" - ie, imperfect.
You have just obliged by outing yourself as....imperfect!

We never would have known if you hadn't spilled the beans.

Back to the facts that tourneys are judgmental...
I have been taught that this is not a point you have been taught it is.
OR,taught by the same person... we each understand "see" the rules taught differently...
My eyes see something different than yours, I'm less exhausted than you, not hungry, or need a bathroom break... The list can go on, outside of the poor intentions of some to "rig" a fights out come!!!

The "Rashomon" Effect
Anyone else here familiar with the play "Rashomon"? It probably illustrates beautifully the point Jap Man is making.

for those who are not familiar with it, The play is set in Kyoto, Japan, during the 12th century. A woodcutter, a priest and a wigmaker are huddled under the great Rashomon Gate during a storm, swapping conflicting stories of a recent murder. Through flashbacks, the audience discovers how a bandit named Tajomaru attacked a young couple in the forest and forced the husband to watch as the bandit raped his wife. The husband's dead body was later found in the woods, but each of the witnesses accuses a different person of murder.

the "moral" of the story is that each of us brings our own expereiences and understandings to any situation...maybe tournaments are no different!
