I think that the sample population for this forum is slightly skewed and not representative to kyokushin classes world wide.
We are polling kyokushin users that are computer savvy, friendly, or general users. A lot of people in my dojo do not use the internet outside of school or work. (only person of asian decent as well.) It would appear that a majority of users on this forum are from Europe. Whereas if this was a predominantly japanese language based forum we would have a skewed poll as well. regardless of race, nationality, or religion... we can all agree upon kyokushin spirit. OSU!

I agree Shokei Marcsui. This poll is quite selective as to who can participate. It cannot give any accurate results in a "worldwide" way. When one thinks that Asia contains over 60% of the worlds population. China making up for 20% on it's own. Would they not have higher numbers of people training in Martial Arts? Especially in such traditional arts as Tai Chi?? |

It's good to see that karate has found you in whatever corner of the planet you are and has superseded ethnic lines. It begs the question what my local dojo needs to do to reach out of our comfort zone (local Japanese community) and tap into the general melting pot that is Los Angeles. Although I don't believe this is an isolated problem. The pictures of IKO1 dojo in Manhattan appear to also be majority Japanese/Asian kids...

I Latino, in the center where i train, there are currently two other latino's and two asians, 4 from africa, everyone else is black or white. The asians here play alot of basketball...??? buuuut they also play soccer and volleyball in the winter. they don't do much MA here, we even have kickboxing class taught by an asian instructor and they still dont join that club. martial arts just aint their thing here.
