Osu!
I didn't know there was some sort of appropriate etiquette to this sort of thing. ![]() Does this include a free Gi for only an additional $24.95? (Or my personal favourite: "I'll upgrade you to a genuine Gi for $59.95!" So what was the other one? Make believe?! )Osu!

That's half the work right there, Brad. They just say, "Yeah, I used to be tougher than Fedor, twice as fast as Chuck, and four times as fit as Bruce. Taught him everything he knew..." "But, Dude, you weren't even born before Bruce Lee died." "Yeah, I'm that good. That's why I don't spar anymore. I am the Deadly..." ![]() Osu!

Haha, this is just silly. eBay black belts? If a person is so desperate to have a black belt to prance around with, then let them wear it and be all happy. I find it to be a spit in the face of people who train hard for years to earn the belts. However, why not let them join a dojo and see just how fast they can get their arse served on a plate.
To me, it's just playing a game of dress-up.

Ah, my son got the earlier version of those. They have now (thankfully) been retired by the clean-up rodent. Ever just wish that one couple had a kid? You know them. We all do. They buy the loudest, most irritating toys, and act like they're doing you a favour. "Oh, it'll keep them busy for hours!" Yes, hours of mind-crushing noise... ![]() I'm praying they have large, healthy octuplets the first time out, and I'm going to buy each one a different instrument. And an amp! ![]() Osu!

I thought it was a national secret? You could tell us, but then it was either witness protection or death? ![]() Osu!

I guess the main point I was trying to make is what is their intention in purchasing a black belt, is it to just boast how wonderful they are or do they intend to actually do something (eg. teach, fight, etc) with it?

There are enough badly run dojos staffed buy people who have graded all the way to Shodan and beyond, (in some styles this does of course mean they've trained for a whole 3 years ) think of the damage to the reputation of the martial arts if someone with only a general understanding of the moves but enough salesmanship to pull of opening a dojo only to teach at best inferior form ![]() Sorry to bring it back to the serious nature of the problem but lets face it, three years ago when I came back to Kyokushin I had trained in around 10 different MA's but only to about half to three quarters of the way through the syllabus; I could carry off all the low grade stuff to a high level, had competed in boxing, WUKO, JJ, Clicker and Knockdown, plus I've got 10 years of managerial and sales training behind me. If it wasn't for the integrity that drives me I would be a prime candidate to take advantage of this. Another point is the issue I have illustrated before of honoring gradings, again I'm not talking about someone whose never trained, they'd be easy to spot but what if they had a semblance of training and fighting ability, they could have the cert back dated, say they'd not been able to train for awhile (while on secondment to the CIA ) and whenever they screw up a Kata they just say they're a bit rusty. Bingo they then score a legitimate BB and follow all of the above with a legitimate cert over the door.PS to help me sleep better does anyone know if these even look authentic?
