Bruce Lee vs. Mas Oyama
I found an interesting thread where they were discussing who would win in a fight Bruce Lee or Sosai.
I'm surprised at how balanced most of their perspectives are. Was this written by some K4L members? Bruce Lee vs. Mas Oyama |

Interesting points. I don't quite get what stung the mod, but I kind of agree with him. Some of the comments were useless without a source.

I'd go with Oyama primarily due to his fighting experience and how powerful he is reported to have been. However, I'm a huge Bruce Lee fan and have nothing but respect for his vision.
My Father used to live next door to a man that worked at the original Ivar's resteraunt in Seattle and befriended Bruce. He would give Bruce free soup/clam chowder, that sort of thing. Supposodely, there was a karate practitioner in the Seattle area at the time that Bruce was friends with. According to my Dad's neighbor, Bruce and this karateka were both scared of eachother's fighting ability. The karateka was a caucasion, too. Unortunately I don't know who he was but my Dad's neighbor wasn't a martial artist, was just somebody who knew Bruce when he lived in Seattle at the time and had nothing to gain by making up a story like this. Take it for what it's worth. I've known a few other people that knew Bruce or trained with him but this is the most interesting story I have heard and would pay money to know who the karateka was.

Ok, I only read the first couple of posts. What struck me is that most people state that BLee would win in a street fight and Oyama in a Karate match. I don't find this a very logical argument seeing as the latter has been in way more actual fights (or matches for that matter) than Lee has. Sure enough Bruce Lee was a phenominal fighter but against Oyama, I don't think he'd prevail. Not in a Karate match LET ALONE on the street.

Spirit,
Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. $500.00? Why? If you have anything of interest to the questioner or the forum in general, why the need for profit? As anyone in their right mind is unlikely to part with any money at all, it is unlikely your 'source' will ever be revealed so you run the risk of just coming over as a smart arse. Gary

Spirit,
My point? I thought it was obvious. You obviously have a wealth of experience which you could choose to share to the benefit of others, but offering to sell that information? Come on, you're better than that. Gary

Think about my answer once again, I think you'll see the direction is not to ask for money, but to be a smart ass and say this is a less than realistic question.

Back on thread....
![]() There is no comparison between these 2 great martial artists, it is as hypothetical as Ali vs Tyson it can't be answered just makes for a great debate. I heard this story and it makes as much sense to me as this one: Bruce was working as an interpreter for an Ali fight, and while keeping his voice perfectly calm and continuing the commentary he was not only throwing every punch that both boxers threw but chucking in some kicks and punches of his own where he saw an opening. Someone on seeing this asked him 'why don't you fight Ali? your speed and ability is so much greater than his', Lee's response, he held up his fist "See this, this is my fist it is my main weapon and yes it would hurt him but look at him he is used to being hit. Now see this." He ran a finger around his fist but an inch bigger all around. " This is the size of his fist." "BANG." He his me with that and my career would be over." I really, really like BL, I was a huge fan especially as I grew up a skinny (he he) lad, he gave me hope that if I trained right my speed could overcome the bulk of all the bigger lads at school and to a point against an untrained attacker this hold water but from my experience (lowly as it is) what I know is you take on someone with equal ability but several more kilos and you have to take a lot of punishment while trying to get through with your own attacks - you can win but look at the open tournaments only the truly exceptional succeed. Now you put even an exceptional talent such as Bruce Lee up against someone equally exceptional but with the additional benefit of size, power, greater skill and greater knowledge such as Sosai and it's just no contest.

I don't see possible comparison between Sosai Oyama y Bruce Lee.
I go for Sosai.

Well, It's very curious, I've heard many times that Bruce Lee trained under Sosai, and he quited after a while because of the hard training, but only from people, not from a book or something like that, but I've heard It from my sensei, I think he's a very trusteable source, anyway, I'm going to ask him about this and then tell you guys

Photography has been around for awhile now guys, given the profile of both men, if it had happened someone would have sold the pictures to a magazine by now.

hello every one ihope you are all fine
well regarding bruce lee vs masoyama i think we should regard it as kyukushin vs jitkundo ....well although jitkundo is good it was invented by bruce lee and it was the art that he practised isnt amatch to the well developped kyukushin so i think if such a fight is to happen i believe that mas oyama would win |
