Training with a new tattoo
Osu,
Hope everyone is well. I have seen the various threads on various kyokushin tattoo designs etc but am wondering how you go about training after having a new tattoo. I have just had a new tattoo done on my arm and shoulder and found it a pain when training because it kept rubbing on my gi, which started taking the scabs off!!! Has ayone else had this problem and how did you overcome it? Rob |

when i got my forearm tattooed i was training in mma ground grappling, the best think is to keep in covered and dont use it, any rubbing will fade the tattoo if done to often. plus it hurts and just keep your cream on it and hope it heals fast

Keep it covered, at the least. Perhaps you could tape a soft cloth to cover it (no tape on the actual tattoo of course). Ideally, I say you should take a short break from practice untill it is healed. It's really not good if the gi rubs the scabs off, you might wound up with scars instead of ink.

Thats cool, thanks for the response. Nix I am disapointed with the take a break option lol I will try covering it though when i go next. It seems fine where the scabs have come off, it towards the end of the healing process anyway but even still thought it would be worth asking.

ouch! id just take some time off myself, i found sweating stings on a new tattoo, let alone sparring with one!
congrats and good luck with your ink, OSU!

Thanks for the congrats James. Sweating i don't find an issue, i put vaseline on very thick before any training even at home so the sweat does'nt get to it. Seems to work well.
Nix, I understand what your saying, and your absolutly right. I was only joking with the disapointed commented. I appreciate your advice. Osu! |

Why not just train in say a vest top without your Gi jacket for a few sessions? - I'm sure if you spoke to your Sensei he'd understand, not come across many without ink to be fair and I'm sure he'd (she'd?) rather you trained half dressed than not at all - with regards to covering it try using non- PVC food wrap (the stuff you wrap your sannies in) as this will not infect the tattoo as a cloth could.
PS pics as soon as it's healed please ![]()

Thanks TMD, Like the idea of a vest. The simple ones are always right in front of you lol. I am half way through the design at the moment so will get some pics up once it is done after the last session is complete in a few weeks.

I see this is your first post, Pils. It would be great if you created a thread in the introduction section of the board, and told us a little bit about yourself. Osu!

Use homeoplasmine to protect it from peeling and put some plactic foil over it to make it heal faster .
