Sorry to hear that you did not pass your grading, its always disapointing when things dont turn out as planned but you should be proud that your organisation has such a high standard! This means that the grade you have now was not given to you lightly, you earned it.
Look at this set back as just another part of the test. You are training in what is arguably the hardest of karate styles. Kyokushin will push and challange you constantly, thats how physical and mental toughness is developed. The fact that you are going to resit the grading shows that you are already displaying the strength of character neccessary for success. Good lucK (Keep us posted) Osu No Seishin |

Osu!
Looking back over my years of Karate training, I feel that none of the grading results were nearly as important as the regular Dojo training. I can't say that I'm even that attached to a particular grade now, after all, it's all very subjective, isn't it? If you walked away today, all the benefits of training would still be with you. Instead, you are choosing to go forward, and that shows your character. StarKodama, you are more than your belt color. Osu!

Osu, its truly disappointing, but you have the opportunity to try again in just a few short weeks (November I think you said). It would be more of a kick in the guts (figuratively speaking) if you had to wait 6 months or so. So you may shed a tear in private and then get on with it, it won't be long and you will get there. Grab a few hugs from that boyfriend of yours, and them have a big smile
on your face next time you walk in that dojo door. |

One of my favourite karate stories is one my own instructor told me.
He was grading for his 5th kyu and felt he had done well. Apparently he did very well, because his Shihan told his Sensei that he felt his grading was so good he should skip a grade to 4th kyu. He was rather pleased with himself until his Sensei said "However, i do not agree, you did well, but i don't feel well enough to justify such a big jump in rank. Therefore you will only be getting your 5th kyu, do you have anything to say about that?" My instructor said that he had a very quick pang of regret, pain, anger (all in a split second). He answerd with "Yes, i do. Lets go train." With a smile his Sensei said "Good answer" The length of the journey is not important, the important thing is that you finish it. You learn as much from our failures as we do our successes. Perhaps though, if your Shihan or Sensei asks you "So, do you have anything to say about your grading result?" You say "Yes, I do. Let's go train." Bren Last edited by blackdog; 09-23-2008 at 01:00 PM. |

Hey Starkodama! Sorry to hear this
You go back there in a few weeks and show them your worth it, we know you can do it Going back after a failure at a grading will show your desire to pass and that deserves respect.
