New "Ichigeki Drink"
An interesting news:

A new sports drink, as a collaboration project between IKO-Matsui and Asahi (a beverage company in Japan), will be launched in Japan on 24th May. This new drink is said to be tailored for karatekas as it claims to boost "explosive power"(with Argine, BCAA and Carnitine) and "endurance" (with Maltodextrin). It is sold in 500ml bottles.


Faii Falimore, Shihan Filho and Sensei Feitosa at press conference.


Shihan Filho tries out the new "Ichigeki Drink".


Fabiano(?), Pichkunov and Nakahara.

Guess there will be a new tv commerical that goes with it. Will post it here as soon as it appears online.

Well I geuss it will be a good money making item. But Im sure its just like any other energy drink like redbull. Packed with Caffeine, sugar, ghurana herbs and carbs.

Marketing a sports or energy drink specifically for the martial arts is redundant. There are plenty of energy drinks, sports drinks that do what ichigeki does and is packaged for a multitude of sports. Martial artists are among the minority of athletes in America.

BTW Doesn't Asahi brew beer named "Tiger"? Or was it Osaka?

Its a good way of making money as I said for the organization, which is good, but I just dont believe in taking energy drinks.

yah, but now they are making a martial arts "drink" that will enhance your performance, when all it is doing is waking you up, just a big misconception. To me anyway, no offence to others.

it was called "beer"...drank it after workouts Friday and Saturday

To be honest, it hasn't gotten off to a great start...

Because it is made by Asahi, it has great distribution to most grocery and other stores that sell food stuffs, however the store close to my house already has it discounted quite a bit, because they are having a hard time moving it off the shelves...

Dear vapor,
They do not even have a CM for the drink! (in this aspect dekavita and super h2o are far better). You have the idea how important this drink really is in the mind of those who produce it.

You have no idea how quickly new products come on and off the shelves.
That is not only for drinks, but other food products too.

It is dissapointing when you find a snack or something that you like, and then a few weeks later is vanishes, and some other crazy thing is in its place!

Convenience stores are super competitive (and most consumers visit one at least once a day, if not more), and with the limited amount of shelf space, they move things on and off in a hurry, to impove sales!

That is true....no real help from an advertising point of view.

Kyokushinkai has run a couple of late night tv specials recently, and the drink was promoted on the program---but again, that is not enough to get the word out.

We had a poster on the wall of our dojo, when it first came out---but that was about it...
