From Germany (again)
Hi everybody!

I am from Germany and train in Wado Karate. This is not a full-contact style, but I am very interested in Kyokushin, Daido Juku, etc. I have read a lot about Kyokushin and Oyama Sosai and watched many videos on youtube. I am as well interested in Martial Arts in general, and I think this is a great forum: the atmosphere is friendly and many members got lots of experience and knowledge about karate.

mmm,
All the Wado Ryu karateka that I know in the states are very hard, strong fighters??? Their fighting is just below Knock Down and they are right up their in fighting power as well their kihons numbers are high 500 to 1000 a night....
So if your training is like they Wado Ryu dojo's that I'm familiar with your conversion should be easier than most.

Look at several dojo's and see what they are doing over a course of time, try not to pick one out on a first time viewing. Try (if possible) to get to know the instructor(s) and watch a handful of classes on different night to see what goes on over a 1 to 3 time frame. A little time investigating several dojo's is better than joining one and finding out its not for you.
PS money is not always the best way of figuring out which dojo to join, if a dojo is to costly, talk with the Sensei you will be surprised that many will work with you (better for you since you already train).

Welcome kidflash to the forum.

Wado Ryu seems to have quite alot of similarities with Kyokushin. I might be speaking from inexperience, but I remember that Wado Ryu likes to focus on Tai sabaki movements. Kyokushin also puts alot of emphasis on such.

I'd suggest considering Mark Sensei's advice and taking your time at choosing your next dojo as that person will be guiding your formation, and training for a good number of years. It's worth the time to look around, and find a teacher that you feel will compliment your goals.

osu Fixi,
Maybe it is better to make comments in english, as the majority of the people understand english better than german
