New to Karate
Hi. I've trained in Aikido (brown belt) and Seibukan jujutsu (shodan demonstration in a couple weeks). You know, those arts Karate people seem to like to poke fun at. While I have learned a lot that I think is valuable in those arts, I am painfully aware that my strikings skills are lacking. I am moving to Pullman, WA in a couple months and am planning to join the Kyokushin dojo there. I am very excited to train in something so completely different, and to test myself in a live, competitive sparring setting.

So excited, in fact, that I am sitting here at my computer reading about it rather than working, since I can't start training until I move.

Welcome to K4L TRK, hope you like it here. Oh by the way, only the "closed minded" folks would poke fun at that which they have no idea about. Glad you have decided to try something different.Hope you can start training kyokushin as soon as possible and have scraps like the rest of us. Good luck man.Osu

I have a deep appreciation for the wisdom, and skills contained in Aikido, and Jujutsu. I can't understand why anyone would want to try to belittle another Martial Artform, as this would demean their own investment into their style.

I welcome you to the forum, and to Karate. I wish you the best as you journey through your experiences, and I hope that you enjoy them all.

Osu!

As we have reached, and exceeded, the number of posts on an Intro thread, I'll close this one, and look forward to your posts elsewhere on the Forum.
