お早う from Japan!
Hello.
I have been considering studying a martial art again so that I will be healthier and more disciplined. I have previously studied Tae Kwon Do, but that was over ten years ago. I know little about what to expect. I'm Henrii, living in Saitama. During my search, I came across Kyokushin Kaikan and felt it may be what I am seeking. I suppose it also helps that I live just 20 minutes from the Honbu dojo. I plan to watch a class this week and, if all goes well, start studying there next week. Now, I must ask: Is that even possible? Is it just a matter of signing up? Or should I be seeking out one of the branches? (Though, the nearest one is the same distance as the honbu.) For those that have been there: Will my intermediate Japanese skills be sufficient? I look forward to getting to know the community! Henrii |

I don't see why it would be a problem to observe a class and then sign up, even at honbu...
You would be surprised, but I bet you will find more than a few dojo's between your house, and Honbu...(pick up a copy of World Karate- for IKO1, and in the back is a listing of dojo locations) vapor

Welcome! I'm sure you'll learn a lot here that will help in your endeavours.
As for the language, training will only help you to improve your Japanese. So just do it!!!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I visited a class at the honbu today and it looks good. There was a special lesson, with a world champion leading the class. I enjoyed watching, but I really wanted to get up from my seat and practice with the group. So, I will probably start studying there in about two weeks (after payday).
