Sacramento California--Hi
Hi from Sacramento California. My name is Mike Love and unfortunately I'm training on my own here because we don't have a Kyokushin dojo within the Sacramento area. Because of career and family responsibilities I've traveled a bit and have not had the opportunity to spend much time training Kyokushin. It's true that beginning is easy but continuing is hard.
I started in Judo as a child and then in my teens did Isshinryu karate (Chester Holobecki Sensei), then in the military trained in Goju and Kyojushin in Washington State. After military service I joined a Goju group in Amherst, Mass with Sensei Kimo Wall. Later I found a Kyokushin dojo near Hartford Ct and briefly trained there until I was transferred with my job to Boston. In Boston I trained in Shotokan with the JKA. Years later after finishing graduate school, I returned to Karate while in Tennessee and trained in Wado-ryu and Sensei Taylor Hayden. Now I'm in California and working to be the athlete that I once was and doing kihon daily. I wish I had time and ability to travel to Southern California to train in a Kyokushin dojo with teachers who live the martial way (fit, healthy, positive, energetic and earnest about training to improve their students). I'm here to participate in this forum to learn more and to hopefully gather enough local interest to attract a certified Kyokushin instructor to the Sacramento area. I hope to find other willing students to form a study group until such time we can have our own Sensei and dojo. Like in the movie field of dreams--if we build it--they will come. I look forward to hearing from all. Mike nanakorobiyaoki (Fall down seven, Get up eight). |
