Which Kyokushin?
I've been practicing karate since I was 8 years old.I joined Pembinaan Mental Karate Kyokushin Karate Do-Indonesia when I was 18 years old.We were under Sosai Oyama and Shihan Nardi T.Nirwanto as a Branch Chief of Indonesia Kyokushin Karate at that time.
Since Sosai Oyama passed away, many of us got confussed which Kyokushin do I belong?IKO or IKO1?
Actually, all of them are good.
It does not matter which one,as long as we followed the "BUSHIDO".

Osu shodan88!

Welcome to K4L! You have a very good point. At heart we are all Kyokushin. Except those of us who belong to Ashihara, Enshin, Jissen Karate, etc... But we are all knock-down karate-ka who hold the spirit of budo high!

Osu!

(Curse you Dent for ninja-moving the thread before I got to it)

You said (or ask) :
Since Sosai Oyama passed away, many of us got confussed which Kyokushin do I belong?IKO or IKO1?

It's up to you.

Today you are not belong to any. You need to found a org to train with.

Remember is many different org. IKO, IKO 1,2,3,4,5,6,,,,,,,1000. And other many different kyokushin names. IFK, Budo Kai, American, Ukk, etc.

Choose one and see what happen.

Wish you luck.

OSU.

Can't even begin to express how important that is. I agree 1000000% We all are aware of politics in any martial art org/assoc. and that's all I will say about that. Visit a few schools and see how good the students are, how friendly of an atmosphere, etc. Remember, the best fighter isn't always the best instructor and vice versa. Some of the best instructors I have known aren't world champions but have created some awesome students.

Paul, I'll give you a call this weekend. I'm slated for some minor surgery in the morning so Friday's probably shot. I think we have enough people to start a dojo here, certainly there appears to be quite a bit of interest in Kyokushin around Sacramento. Looking forward to speaking with you.

Shodan88 and Mike95765, this is a friendly place this forum but it is open to the rest of the web, I'd PM details such as phone numbers etc. Right click on the persons name and select send a private message best of luck in setting up the DOJO please use the forum to advertise this and gather any info you need about running one there are many members here who run dojos across the world so many mistakes and triumphs have been endured and celebrated.

tmd is right. I would be careful to give out personal details such as telephone number, email or maybe even my full name on the internet, as others mightfind it and abuse it. I have edited the phone number out in the above post. That beeing said, it's delightful to see that the forum helps people establish real-life connections!

Now, this thread has long passed the maximum posts allowed in an intro thread, so I'm going to close it. Shodan88, I wish you good luck on the way of martial arts, and hope you find a good instructor.

Osu,
~ Nix
