Hi all, I returned to Karate after a 35 year lay off this year.
I trained Kyokushin in my teens at the original Brooklyn Academy of Music dojo.
I am currently training Seido Juku, which is nearly identical to how I remember Kyokushin back in the day. The main differences I can see is that we dont do Kumite until 4th Kyu, (fine by me now in my 50's but I definitely would not have been able to wait that long in my teens!) , and we dont recite the Dojokun.
Would love to hear from anyone else who trained there in that era at the old BAM dojo..some of my memories are crystal clear, and some are really hazy.
