an introduction

well, i was asked to introduce myself by Dent, so here i am.

my name is drew, i'm 21, live in St. Louis, MO and have been training in martial arts since i was five. sure i played baseball and soccer and all sorts of stuff like the other kids, but i took more to martial arts. i appreciate team sports, but i found that relying on myself not to make a mistake in competition was much more satisfying than hoping someone on my team would share the same passion. maybe that's just me.

i'm a third dan in taekwondo, a second dan in shotokan karate, and a first dan in wing chun. i have various ranks and years of training as well in krav maga, jujitsu, capoeira, wushu, hapkido and soo bahk do. to simplify things in competition, i just wear an unmarked black belt.

there have been a couple kyokushin tournaments that i have planned on going to- one in washington in april, and another in rochester in october, but i sprained my knee two weeks before april (bad times) and financial matters are keeping me out of new york. but hopefully i'll make it out and meet some of you guys out there, eh?
