Kameda boxing family
I absolutely dislike them for being cocky and disrespectful. I think suspension of Daiki Kameda is a good thing for them as well as a penalty for the kameda dad and the gym. During a recent bout between Naito(current wbc champ) and Daiki Kameda, it was obvious that Daiki was losing so Kame family in Daiki's second commanded Daiki to use elbow to Naito's eye. And in fact Daiki seemed to use his thumb into Naito's eye as well as punching to naito's thighs. And thowing Naito on the ring multiple times with 3 minus points in the last round. After throwing Naito, Daiki cheered himself and raised his hand like a fool.
However, I do think this young man is not a bad fighter for a 18 years old. I would rate him 2.5/10 when compared to Mayweather(9.5/10). Hopefully during this suspension time(1 year) he will go to America to train boxing and his mentality. Last edited by nzproud; 10-17-2007 at 11:26 AM. |

I have never been a fan of the Kamedas but I watched that last match from start to finish (my bf's dad was holding the remote and wouldn't change the channel!) and it just disgusted me. :/ I was really happy to hear of the suspension, the whole family totally deserve it.
But yeah, I'm really curious to see what he'll be like after the suspension... I'm remaining hopeful. ![]() |

I have actually been to a number of their fights (front row sponsor seats!!)
They are very underwelming in terms of actual performance---all talk, not much walk The "thumbing" as it is being termed in the media in Japan is unexcusable. The taunting and self promotion, while can be expected, has gotten old. The family makes for a great story.....3 brothers, coached by their dad, using everyday materials to train.....quite the underdog. But, when push comes to shove, they have shown their true colors. It is also being reported that the head of the gym they are affiliated with, was suspended/barred from boxing in his younger years for similar type behavior... vapor

Koki Kameda is the former WBA Flyweight champion. He gave up the title shortly after defending it once to move up to the flyweight division. He has an undefeated record of 14-0-0 (10 KOs).
Apparently the middle Kameda: Daiki Kameda lost to Daisuke Naito then the WBC flyweight champion, in Naito's first title defense on October 11, 2007. Despite making comments before the match that he will commit seppuku if he lost, his manager has confirmed that he will not.

Too bad he is not even allowed to train overseas.. that's ridiculous yet he deserved it. But IMO he should be allowed to train overseas to experience highly skilled boxing in USA. |

Yeah I think that perhaps if he did train overseas in the US his ego would tone down a bit after a couple of fights here.

They are such the media darlings, that it doesn't (or didn't for a while) make too much of a difference how well they actually boxed...I mean, after the fights big brother takes the mic and leads the crowd in cheers (for himself) middle brother sings karaoke after the fights (still in the ring)....they could do no wrong, and the judges tended to follow popular demand.
The last fight I saw last year, was against a fighter from Mexico....Kouki dished out 2 low blows during the fight...never even got a warning- even though it was blatant and quite obvious. Poor sportsmanship vapor

Yeah it's just a highlight but there's a knockdown there so it's outrageous to know he won.

Saw the fight tonight between Naito and Kameda. What a lousy 12 rounds. I didn't see the elbow or the finger in the eye, but it was quite comical when Kameda put his arm between Naito's legs and tried to pick him up and body slam him during the final round. Maybe Kameda should try out for K-1 Heros - he is a pretty lousy boxer in my opinion. Much better fights on The Contender!!
